Capítulo XXIV- Testigos Por la Primera Vez
Patience neatly placed her books, journals, and pencil bag in her locker. It was lunchtime and unlike usual, she didn't shove her things in a hurry. She had thirty minutes of lunch and free time before her next class. Patience grabbed what she needed, shut her locker, and advanced to the cafeteria.
Patience glimmered with happiness seeing Chase on his way to the cafeteria. She hadn't seen him today and she wanted to give him something back. "Hi, Chase," she linked her arm with his.
A smile instantly plastered on his face hearing her voice, "Oh, hey, Patience." His eyes flickered to the shirt in her hands. "Is that the flannel I left at your house?"
"Yeah, I was going to give it back but I kept forgetting. So I washed it and hung it up in my closet." She pushed it towards him, "Here."
A small grin smeared on Chase's face from his girlfriend's kind gesture. He wanted her to keep it like every other boyfriend gave his sweater to his girlfriend on tv and books, but she had already washed it for him and he couldn't let her have it after that. "Thanks, Patience." He opened his satchel and stuffed his flannel in.
Her hand traveled down Chase's forearm and held his hand. "I have great news, Douglas is training me. He'd already started with Leo and offered to help me."
"That's amazing, maybe we could all go on missions." He tilted his head to her as they walked, asking, "How are you're bionics holding up? Still can't sleep in your capsule?"
Ever since Douglas set up Patience's capsule, she hadn't been able to have a good night's sleep. Standing up to fall asleep was something she strongly disliked. At times she would gather her pillows and blanket in the capsule to sit on the glass floor.
"No, but I do sit down and sleep or I sleep on my bed and stay in my capsule for a bit the next morning."
"Patience, you should be using your capsule all night. Who knows what it'll do to your bionics."
"I know, but I've been working on it. I slept standing up for 3 hours. It's a record," she glanced at him, smiling. "How could you sleep standing up?"
Chase shrugged, "I've been sleeping in a capsule for 16 years. I managed to get used to it."
"I also looked it up and human bodies aren't capable of sleeping standing up." The pair entered the cafeteria and joined the lunch line. "I think from now on I'll be surrounded by my pillows and sitting down."
"As long as you sleep well and don't glitch," Chase assured, "you'll be okay. And if there's anything ever wrong, don't be afraid to ask me, Mr. Davenport, or Douglas."
