Capítulo II- Confinamiento

Patience laid on the couch with a blanket tucked to her chin and her head on a pillow. The couch faced away from the dorm room doors, concealing her presence in the room. The last thing she wanted was someone walking in and seeing her puffy eyes and red cheeks. The humiliation was too much for her to bear to face anyone right now.  Patience could've cared less if anyone else told her she didn't have a mind of her own, but Leo, her best friend of six years, saying it in front of everyone was cruel. She understood that he was aggravated but it didn't make it right for him to say it. Patience was aware of her behavior and tried to lean away from it. She improved over the years. It was far worse as a child.

Leo knew everything about her just like she knew everything about him. They have been attached to the hip since their accidental friendship began. Thinking about that, made Patience feel worse. She used to sit alone with a couple of friends in elementary school and keep to herself, listening to her peers and teachers. It wasn't until two years after her parents divorced in the third grade that Patience came out of her shell and became the outgoing person she was today.

"Hello? Patience?" Patience covered her face with the blanket. It wasn't big enough to cover her toes when she pulled it up. "I heard you moving." Xue walked over to the couch and peered over it. Patience sniffled, trying to breathe underneath the warm blanket. "Okay, come out. You're suffocating in there."

Patience made a peek hole to breathe. "Who sent you here?"

She crossed her arms, "I came to check on you and this is the treatment I get?"

"No!" she quickly said. "I didn't mean it that way. I was just wondering."

"If you want to know if it was Leo, it wasn't. He was put in charge of the students. Perry wanted to talk to the mentors and Mr. Davenport. Don't know what it is but it seemed important. He's telling the story how he saved Adam, Bree, and Chase. He let me out so I could talk to you." Patience felt the couch dip next to her. Patience flipped the blanket off and sat up. "Oh, jeez," she said, observing her red cheeks and puffy eyes. Xue awkwardly handed her two tissues, "Here. I don't know how to talk to crying people. A little heads up."

"It's okay. Thank you," Patience took the tissue from Xue. She dabbed the tissue on her eyes rather than using her shirt to irritate them.

"Yep. I don't think Leo meant to say it. He felt terrible and I think he felt worse after Adam, Bree, and Chase asked why he said it. It could've been worse if Perry didn't break up their argument."

"I know he didn't mean to say it." Patience threw her legs over the edge of the couch. "He didn't lie either. But it still hurts and he humiliated me in front of everyone."

"I don't know what to say. I've known you for a month. I don't have any other opinion other than you're too nice that it creeps me out- I mean that in a good way. I really need to work on my wording."
