Capítulo XIII- Un 10 por intentar
Xue ducked and pressed her back against the metal barrier. The laser she dodged hit the wall in front of her, and lines crackled on the metal wall to send shock waves on anything nearby. She crawled through the fog as it swirled around her. She spotted Bob and Silvia hiding behind the barrels. Xue took a glimpse to her right to see if Apollo and Kate were still beside her. She was on her stomach meanwhile he was on his knees looking over the barrier.
Silvia held her arm to her chest as Bob kept an eye on the Exoskeleton. Her plan to take control of the exoskeleton failed when a laser grazed her forearm. It canceled her ability to phase through objects but she had yet to fall. Bob pulled her away from the exoskeleton before it struck her again.
"Silvia, are you okay?" Patience asked. She was on the platform to observe their teamwork on the far right. It was high enough to see what they were doing and she could also jump out of the way in case something was thrown in her direction.
"Yeah!" she replied. "I just can't move my arm, but that's about it!"
Apollo wiped the dots of water on his clothing. He submerged his hand in the fog below to feel the evaporated water. He quirked an eyebrow and hovered his hand over the perfect dots of water. He pinched one drop and pulled his hand up. The dots of water collected together and flowed around his hand.
Apollo glanced at Kate and Xue to his right, "Do you guys know if that thing is water resistant?"
Xue answered, "Nope, but it doesn't hurt to try."
Kate held her hand out, "Wait, what if we break it?"
She shrugged, "It isn't our money."
Patience held back from informing them that Mr. Davenport made sure it was invincible. The only weakness she knew it had was that it was unable to stand up. However, that was a prototype Mr. Davenport constantly pushed off. He had his hands full with other projects and it wasn't his number one priority since it failed his conference meeting. The exoskeleton attacking her students was brand new.
"Okay, but whatever you guys do, I refuse to be the distraction," Kate interjected. "We made a deal before this started."
Xue and Apollo called out, "Bob!"
He whipped his head toward them, "Yeah."
"You're the distraction," Xue informed.
"What? Why do I have to be the distraction?"
"Cause we said so."
The exoskeleton picked up a barrel and tossed it over the barrier. Kate released a shriek and the three students darted out of their positions. The barrel slammed against the wall and rebutted against the barrier. Xue created a flame in her hand and aimed it at the exoskeleton. It disappeared when it made contact with the fire-resistant metal. She threw more fireballs in its direction to try and slow it down.
