VXXI- Sábado
"Pat, you can calm down. It's Chase, you've known him for over a year," Dante put a hand on Patience's shoulder.
"But we've never been on a date before. What if it gets messed up and we ruin our whole friend group," Patience fretted.
The last time Dante had seen Patience a nervous wreck was on her first date with Reya after camp ended. It was outside of camp and she wasn't sure if it was gonna be awkward or not because they had many topics to talk about at camp. But outside of camp, they would have to build their own conversations.
"You'll be okay," he assured.
Patience threw herself on the couch. She slumped against the cushion, "How do you know?"
"You were like this with Reya."
"But you know how that turned out. I haven't talked to her since March of last year."
Dante took a seat next to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "I meant when you went on your first date with her after camp. You both came around quickly and you didn't stop talking about it right after."
"We did." Patience sat up, "You're right, I'll be okay." The doorbell rang and Patience panicked, "He's here."
"I will be in my room if you two need me. Remember if you do go to you're room, leave the door open."
"Dad, don't leave-"
"I love you, Patience. You'll be okay," he kissed her forehead and proceeded to his room.
Patience took a deep breath and shuffled to the door. She laid a hand on the doorknob and swung the door open. A bright smiling Chase was on the other side of the door. Any nerves Patience had before their date had vanished instantaneously for a second.
"Hey, Patience," Chase said.
"Hi, Chase," she grinned. Realizing she had been standing there and not let him in yet, she stepped aside, "Oh, come in."
Chase happily entered Patience's home. He removed his shoes and set them on the shoe rack next to the door. The boy was just as nervous as Patience. For the past couple of days, he had been researching dates. As stupid as it sounded, he did not want to mess up their first date.
One of the ideas was to drive around town, but they only had their driver's permits. Another was the movie theaters but he liked talking to Patience too much to go for a first date. The other was skating, but Chase didn't know how to skate. And one of the last ones was a museum, but he felt like it would bore Patience even though it wouldn't.
"My dad's in his room, so I believe we have the whole house to ourselves. We just need to keep the doors open," Patience sheepishly explained, "because you know-"
