Capítulo XVII- Von Schtopp

Ever since Leo and Patience escaped the lair, she didn't feel comfortable in her own home. Marcus breaking into her home was one thing, but installing cameras in her home own was another. Her privacy was invaded and she didn't know when she could feel comfortable again.

Patience couldn't even defend herself if she tried. A purple and yellow hue bruise was marked on her right wrist. She couldn't hide it with bracelets without her wrist aching from their weight, so she wore long-sleeved clothing. The bruise wasn't as bad as it was, she treated it by icing it whenever she could and putting ointment.

Marcus hadn't acted on anything since the lair incident. That didn't stop Patience from looking over her shoulder. She was afraid of what he could do. She did feel much better hanging around Adam, Bree, and Chase, Patience stuck around them a little bit more than she usually does.

The one problem was that Dante didn't know what was happening. She was worried that Marcus could strike on her father any moment and she wouldn't know. It wasn't like she could text him every second of the day to know his whereabouts. As long as he texted her every day wondering where she was, it lifted a bit of weight on her shoulders.

Mr. Davenport called Adam, Bree, Chase, Leo, and Patience into the great room. A glint of curiosity gleamed in Patience's eyes when they fixed to the object covered by a grey tarp. She stood in front of it as Mr. Davenport did a little dance.

"Hey, guys, check this out. I picked this up at auction today, and it only cost me a million dollars," Mr. Davenport beamed.

Adam furrowed his eyebrows, "What- For a sheet? Boy, I guess I'd better start saving up if I'm gonna be a ghost for Halloween."

Mr. Davenport corrected him, "It's a painting, Adam, by a very famous artist named Von Schtopp," he unveiled the warm multi-colored abstract painting.

Leo hummed, "I wish I would have been there to 'Von Schtopp' you from buying it." Mr. Davenport glared at Leo.

     "What is it?"

"It's abstract art, Adam. It's whatever you think it is," answered Mr. Davenport.

Bree tilted her head, observing the painting, "I think it's a crying woman."

Patience pursed her lips, stepping forward, "It kinda looks like tiny aliens."

"I think it's a storm at sea," Chase pitched in.

Leo remarked, "I think someone just blew a million bucks."

Mr. Davenport's ringtone blasted. He withdrew his phone from his front pocket, "That's me. Davenport Industries. Hello? Uh-huh. Oh, boy. All right." He hung up. "Looks like I've got to put out a fire at work."
