"You have got to be kidding me!" Tay yelled.

"Please, Tay, no matter how many times you bang your head against that tree, we're stuck here," Anna said.

"If we're stuck here, why not go look for Kyle, Maia, Ceya, and Raegan?" Jimmee suggested.

"I'm not all that keen to looking for Ceya," Sam whispered.

"Ignore her. Ceya may be a pain, but we have to deal with that pain," Ayame sighed.

"Let's all split up and try to find them. We have Digivice communication, so we don't have to worry about getting lost," Charlie reccomended.

"We could easily call them though," Fumiko replied.

"I tried. None of them answered," Ayame answered.

"But we should stay together. Splitting up could get us like them," Anna said.

-----

Raegan and Kyle walked in silence. Impmon was a few feet behind them, glaring at Mikemon atop Raegan's head.

"Why did Kyle agree to this?" Impmon thought. "These two aren't going to help at all as far as fighing goes,"

Raegan looked at Kyle. "What do you think of the school?" She was desperately trying to make small talk, and it showed in a way.

"It's fine. And it's my turn to read you," Kyle replied with a smirk.

Raegan was confused. "Huh?"

"You're just trying to be friendly. And honestly, I think we should be more focused on our present situation than making idle conversation," Kyle said.

Raegan sighed. "Am I that easy to see through?"

"Don't doubt Kyle, shorty," Impmon cut in.

"And he's calling me short," Raegan muttered.

"Ignore him. You're looking for Ceya and Maia," Mikemon whispered to her.

"That much rings true," Raegan responded.

-----

Ceya still had Tsukaimon on her head. She walked gloomily now, as if she was vulnerable after her confession to Tsukaimon. What Ceya would call "the old her."

Maia and Patamon were also walking through the forested area. Maia was in a much more aggressive mood than Ceya, and it surely showed.

"Ceya!" Maia yelled angrily.

"I'm sorry!" Ceya exclaimed, tears flying to her eyes.

Maia then went sensitive. She had thought Ceya would still be mad.

But she was wrong.

"I'm sorry," Maia said, wrapping her arms around Ceya in comfort.

"You probably enjoy this. I'm finding out that my best friend is in need of protection, and I seem so weak," Ceya told Maia between sobs.

"I'm seriously sorry! I thought you'd still be mad!" Maia explained.

Ceya wiped away her tears. "From my fierce appearance, anyone could be decieved."

Maia stared at the blonde. Ceya always seemed so strong. Was this her true self...?

"It's about time we found you!"

Ceya's stomach knotted at hearing Raegan's voice. She looked at her friend. Her eyes shone sweetly and happily. A dissatisfied Impmon stood next to Kyle, who had a similar expression.

"Ceya," Impmon said.

"Impmon," she whispered. Regularly this would ignite a fist fight, but Ceya wasn't in the mood.

"I'm sorry about earlier," she continued, looking at Kyle. He saw her tear-stained cheeks and was filled with pity.

"Don't stress it," Kyle answered. Impmon rolled his eyes and then glared at Ceya. Clearly Kyle's partner was not as easily persuaded.

Maia stared upwards. She saw something streak across the sky. Something big.

"You guys can finish your make-ups later! We have company! And they don't look all that friendly!" Maia cut in.

She pointed upwards, and all of the others followed her gaze.

"Perfect! The only champion we have is myself, and we can't contact the others!" Mikemon exclaimed.

"Why not try again?" Patamon asked in panic.

"All that I've been getting is static," Raegan explained.

"I never liked electronics," Impmon stated flatly.

Then you're not going to like our companion!" Tsuakimon exclaimed. "MailBirdramon is all tech."

Impmon groaned. "Great."

Mikmon jumped from Raegan's head and onto a descending MailBirdramon. He attempted scratching at MailBirdramon's thick armor, but to no avail.

"This is like scratching at rocks!" he shouted.

"Rocks are processed into metal by machinery," Tsuakimon replied sassily. (insert irritated face on Mikemon here)

"No time for sarcasm, dragon ears!" Impmon interrupted.

Tsukaimon stared at Ceya. He could now see deeper into her brown eyes. The fear hidden under the determined glare. Something so unreal...because no one had ever quite seen it.

Tsukaimon now understood the reason behind Ceya's outburts...the fragileness inside of her "lion heart." And for that, she needed protection which she provided for her closest friends.

A sudden spark of light erupted across the area, white encasing everyone. The only one who still stood was Ceya. She opened her eyes, as she had closed them when the illumination ignited.

Suddenly, something echoed across the field. It was a voice that no one had ever heard, at least not in the eight currently gathered. "Light is an illusion. Shadows are your ally."

Ceya then watched all the light turn to black. It ended with a currently unmoving Tsuakimon.

"TSUKAIMON!" Ceya yelled.

"TSUKAIMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...DEVIMON!"

The moment Ceya heard the name, she instantly knew the voice had gotten to her. If the light was her enemy...did that mean Maia and her partner were her adversaries?

And as the darkness faded to regular coloring, Ceya saw nothing but Devimon watching MailBirdramon fly into the distance. Maia was slumped up against a rock with Patamon limply across her lap. Kyle and Raegan were spread across the ground weakly. Impmon was a few feet away from them, and Mikemon hit the ground roughly, groaning slightly.

"Devimon, we have to chase MailBirdramon. I need to figure out what I heard," Ceya said.

"And them?" Devimon eyed Ceya's companions.

"The others should find them soon. I'm not concerned. Something about that shockwave...I'm not sure what it is, but it didn't do them any good. But so they aren't in much danger, I'll send the others a message to help them," Ceya replied.

"They're just out for now," Devimon whispered.

"Yep. But they're going to be okay. They have to be." Ceya hopped into Devimon's arms, and his powerful wings propelled them towards MailBirdramon.

-----

"Ceya wants us to go somewhere. Let's get going," Ayame announced.

"Last time that a message came, there was huge trouble. I hope this time isn't the case," Charlie said uneasily.

"Don't worry," Fumiko assured her.

But if her response was so assuring, why did it make her even more nervous?
