Chapter Thirty Two: The Mighty Fall

"Digivolve now!" Fumiko commanded.

"LOPMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...TURUIEMON!"

"GUMMYMON, TRIPLE DIGIVOLVE TO...RAPIDMON!"

"SALAMON, DOUBLE DIGIVOLVE TO...FROZENANGEWOMON!"

"FALCOMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...PECKMON!"

"RENAMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...KYUBIMON!"

"IMPMON, DOUBLE DIGIVOLVE TO...ASTAMON!"

"DRACOMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...COREDRAMON!"

"GABUMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...GARURUMON!"

"I can't have Sister of Courage join this fight, now can I?" Matadormon asked suddenly. Tokomon was glowing, preparing digivolution. "Earth-Shattering Stomp!"

The ground under Maia and Tokomon gave way under them. The crack thickened, and Jimmee and Gumdramon were also swallowed by the abyss.

"Maia!" Kaez shouted. She stared down into the crack, tears filling her eyes.

LadyDevimon came up behind the emotional girl and kicked her in the back. Kaez shrieked in fear as she too fell into the canyon.

"What do you want?!" Anna questioned angrily. She rode on Kyubimon with an angry expression etched on her face.

"Fox Tail Inferno!" Kyubimon shouted, forcing flames at Matadormon.

The Digimon swerved out of the way simply. This earned him a grunt in anger from Anna. Matadormon laughed. "Have you people gone soft while I was away? Assault of Arrows!"

Arrows flew through the air, skimming Anna's arm and Kyubimon's tail. Another hit Garurumon's leg. The wolf was caught off guard. He stumbled and de-digivolved. The same arrow graced Kyubimon's paw, and Anna was sent flying backwards as Kyubimon returned to Renamon.

"What are you trying to do?!" Fumiko roared. "Kill us all?!"

"No, just the ones who weren't there during my last assault," Matadormon replied simply. He pounced on Fumiko and threw her into the crack. Rapidmon, clearly angry, lunged for him, but LadyDevimon intercepted, becoming locked in a fist fight with Rapidmon.

Matadormon turned around and faced Anna. He saw a scratch on her arm. "Ah, I see that SkullGreymon did some good before his downfall. Ordering Dracmon to do that will help out greatly."

LadyDevimon sent Rapidmon flying onto Anna and Renamon. Rapidmon became Terriermon once again. The evil angel then turned to face Ayame. "Last one. Can't be too difficult."

Matadormon strutted away from Anna and faced his former adversaries. "Kyle, Ceya, Charlie, Sam, Tay, and Raegan. The ones who defeated me four years ago. I shall defeat you today, no later!"

Tay turned to FrozenAngewomon. "Go!"

FrozenAngewomon and Astamon rushed forward, knife and ice ready. Matadormon swatted them aside, taking Astamon's knife. FrozenAngewomon was grabbing for the blade when LadyDevimon tossed Peckmon onto the angel.

"They're tossing us around like ragdolls!" Charlie yelled.

"You don't say!" Ceya answered sarcastically.

"I'm waiting for a magic digivolution to save our lives here!" Sam exclaimed in worry.

Falcomon and Gatomon tumbled to Ayame. Tay dashed to her companions. She gulped in worry. Only Turuiemon, Coredramon, and Mikemon were left.

"Evil Wing!" LadyDevimon shouted. Coredramon fell victim to the attack, becoming Dracomon once again.

"This stinks!" Dracomon groaned. "Tsukaimon, digvolve and beat these guys up!"

"On it!" Ceya replied.

"TSUKAIMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...DEVIMON!"

Devimon turned to face LadyDevimon. "Let's do this."

"My pleasure," LadyDevimon smirked. The two took to the air, engaged in combat.

"Turuiemon, take on Matadormon!" Charlie commanded.

"Ninja Fist!" Turuiemon exclaimed seconds later. She punched Matadormon across the face.

"You truly have gone soft!" Matadormon said between laughs. He punched Turuiemon as well, and the latter became Lopmon again.

Tsukaimon flew through the air in defeat. "What are we going to do now?"

"I'll separate you, that's what!" LadyDevimon yelled. She opened her arms. "Evil Wing!"

The kids were all shot through the air. Ceya and Sam slipped through the crack in the ground. Dracomon, Tay, Ayame, and Renamon followed.

"Evil Wave!" LadyDevimon repeated. The remaining kids and Digimon were falling now.

Raegan saw purple dust surrounding her hand. She was now in mid air. Mikemon was Lucemon now, and Anna could be seen unconscious nearby.

"Inheritor of Light and Keeper of Sympathy, I congratulate you on staying in the fight this long. Tapirmon will be assisting you now. But I have one request before all is lost: save a life."

Raegan watched time resume. The only person that she could still see was Anna. Raegan grabbed her unconscious friend's arms as Lucemon began to shine.

"LUCEMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...MIKEMON!"

Mikemon was now in free fall, unable to fly now. He didn't stay this way for long, though. He was glowing again soon enough.

"MIKEMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...BEASTMON!"

Beastmon bounced off of a wall in the canyon, then another, then another. He was standing at the top in seconds.

Raegan was being lifted by Tapirmon's power. Her Digivice rattled so much it seemed like it would explode. From Tapirmon sending his power to Raegan as well as Lucemon double digivolving, it seemed as if the device would blow into bits at any second.

"Beastmon," Raegan whispered. Her voice had a distant echo to it of another speaker.

Tapirmon.

"Witch Warp!" Vibrations echoed out from Beastmon's body, and the ripples struck Matadormon and LadyDevimon.

Both seemed oddly rattled by the digivolution. LadyDevimon collapsed out of nowhere. The Inheritor of Light had quite an advantage.

"Nightmare Syndrome!" Taprimon and Raegan shouted in unison. Purple dust swirled around a pink ray, and the attack struck Matadormon.

The vampire Digimon was surrounded by the pictures of his nightmares: pictures of Raegan, Kyle, Ceya, Charlie, Sam, and Tay flew through the air. Their Digimon and Tapirmon followed.

Matadormon's data flew upwards, never to appear again. Relief flooded through Raegan at this sight.

"Vampire Wave!" Beastmon's attack interrupted Raegan's thoughts. LadyDevimon's data began to fuzz at long last, and it spiraled into the sky.

Beastmon shrunk into Calumon. "It's over."

Raegan's vision faded to black. She could hear Tapirmon's voice among the darkness. "I will be back, Keeper of Sympathy. Just wait for when you need me, and I'll return."

Raegan opened her eyes to see Anna and Calumon's blurry figures. Her vision was turning to black again. The new Shadow Reigners were exhausting.

Raegan slipped into unconsciousness after the long fight.

The rest of our heroes were in a similar condition. The fall had just been too much on top of LadyDevimon and Matadormon's attacks.

But little did they know, when they woke up, they would be in more deep trouble.
