Sam panted as himself among the others ran to Ceya's designated coordinates. But he gasped upon seeing Maia, Raegan, and Kyle.

"I don't see Ceya, and these three don't look all that good," Dracomon said.

Ayame bent over Kyle in concern. "I couldn't agree more." She reached out to brush hair from his eyes, but was startled away from it.

"Back off, purple!"

Ayame jumped with a scream to see Impmon staring at her. His fingers had flames on them.

"What happened, Impmon?" Anna questioned seriously, despite the Digimon's rude greeting.

"There was this light, I heard Ceya screaming, and then nothing," Impmon answered.

"'Nothing?'" Charlie asked.

"Zilch. Zero. Nada. Black. Shadows." Impmon's voice was flat and dry. A Raegan analysis would show he was quietly concerned.

Kyle flinched slightly, and Raegan did the same. "What in the..." Raegan's voice trailed off. Everything was blurry, but as it came into focus, her head throbbed.

"You guys okay?" Fumiko asked, helping Raegan to her feet. Jimmee was doing the same with Kyle.

"What happened?" Jimmee questioned.

"I think I'm fine, but I have no clue what happened," Raegan replied faintly.

"Same here," Kyle said.

Ayame leaned over Maia and Patamon. "They still seem to be-huh?"

Ayame looked down in shock at her crest glowing violet. In the sudden shine, Maia flinched before sitting up. She didn't seem to see anythign but Patamon, who looked tired.

"Patamon!" she exclaimed, cuddling her partner gently.

"I'm tired and hungry, the worst combination," Patamon groaned.

Raegan looked around to see Mikemon on the ground. She ran to him before picking him up.

"He seems okay. He'd be an egg in Primary Village if he were dead," Renamon said from nearby.

"That seems at least somewhat good, but what about Ceya?" Raegan asked.

"You don't know?" Charlie questioned.

"None of us do. I remember seeing this white light before everything went dark. That's about it," Maia said.

"Amnesia always happens at the worst times," Gatomon muttered from atop Tay's head.

"I think her partner digivolved though. I heard him doing it before blacking out," Kyle recalled.

"Then we should go after them! Who knkows what trouble they're in?" Raegan exclaimed.

"I think some of us should stay here. I don't think you, Kyle, or Maia is suited yet to go charging into a fight," Anna said.

"I can stay here with them for backup in case a Digimon gets frisky," Jimmee suggested.

"I will too. The rest of you should go and find Ceya. And while you're at it, cream whoever has been sending these Digimon at us," Ayame stated with a slight smirk.

"Seems like a stable enough agreement. Charlie, Fumiko, Sam, Tay, let's get going," Anna nodded.

The ten ran off, leaving the remaining members of the team sitting against rocks and tree trunks.

-----

"MailBirdramon isn't far now," Devimon told Ceya.

"Good. We have a little business to settle with him," she hissed, smashing her fist into her palm

MailBirdramon turned to see Ceya in Devimon's arms. Devimon waited for Ceya to scramble to his back before flying at the metal bird, slamming him into the ground. Dust sprayed from the rocky area as Ceya jumped from her partner's back.

"Why did you attack us?" she demanded.

"Because of the Shadow Reigners commanding it," MailBirdramon said roughly.

Ceya looked shocked. She expected to have to threaten the information out of him.

"You'll discover their tyranny soon enough, Master of Friendship," MailBirdramon smirked. He took to the skies, sending Ceya into a tree and Devimon into the sky. He became Tsukaimon while falling back down.

Ceya watched MailBirdramon fly away as she waited for Tsukaimon to land in her waiting arms. When he did, he looked at her nervously.

"We should go back to the others," Tsukaimon suggested.

"I don't think so. Last time...we all know what happened. They all..." Ceya's voice faded into nothingness. The memory made her feel guilty.

"But we have to meet up with them soon," Tsukaimon pressed.

As true as it was, Ceya didn't want to. She was afraid of what she might do, or the suffering she might cause.

-----

"What's that?" Sam asked, pointing upwards.

MailBirdramon was flying in circles above. He saw the group and went into a nosedive.

Charlie and Fumiko got their Digivices ready. Light came across the field seconds before MailBirdramon made contact.

"LOPMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...TURUIEMON!"

"TERRIERMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...GARGOMON!"

The champion Digimon jumped on MailBirdramon's head. Turuiemon punched his jaw and Gargomon redirected it to the sky. Sam, Tay, and Charlie sighed in relief.

"No time for victory now!" Fumiko yelled.

"Birdie's coming back!" Anna finished.

MailBirdramon was heading straight for the group once again. Turuiemon and Gargomon could already see they would be too late to divert the attack.

"Run!" Renamon called in slight panic.

All kids and Digimon followed the direction blindly. Sam was stumbling slightly. Running for your life could get one stressed and clumsy.

Sam tripped over his own feet, nearly face planting the hard ground. Dracomon grabbed his hand, but Sam still fell forward.

"Sam!" Dracomon yelled.

MailBirdramon was about to strike.

-----

"I wish we didn't have to sit around here like ducks!" Maia exclaimed, turning in her pacing for the twelfth time.

"Anna had a point," Ayame said.

"We'll get our chance, Maia," Patamon assured her. "I'm sure of it."

-----

Ceya stopped to rest on a rock. For the fiftieth time-at least that's what it felt like-she remembered the strange voice's words.

"'Light is your enemy. Darkness is your ally.'" Ceya sighed, closing her eyes. Why couldn't something as important as this.

"We could ask Raegan to decode this," Tsukaimon suggested.

"Ha ha," Ceya laughed flatly."Your persuasive skills are anything but settle."

"I'm just saying that you can't run from this forever, so what better time to face it then the present?"

Ceya let Tsukaimon's words ring through her head. The quote from before did as well.

But the inconsistencies didn't matter to her. The truth behind both quotes was what was on her mind.

But if they were both true, did that mean she was evil?
