Chapter Twenty Two: Breaching Ultimate

When time stopped, Kyle looked around before noticing how nothing was moving. It was so strange to be living in a world of movement and for it suddenly to stop.

Kyle held his crest close to his chest. It was loose and fluttering in his grip. It was the source of a pale blue light that shone slightly silver throughout the area.

A voice echoed to his ears. "One alone can plan things as strategically as you, and your crest is the source of this power. Use it the way it is necessary."

The voice was female and sounded like a slightly deeper version of Raegan's. Weird.

Kyle's grasp on his crest tightened. His thoughts flew through his mind as he realized something, staring at MegaKabuterimon. The bug's chest area seemed more vulnerable to attack, so he would target it.

The crest glowed more intensely until Kyle was blinded. When the light ceased, time had restarted, and IceDevimon was glowing.

"ICEDEVIMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...ASTAMON!"

Kyle couldn't keep his mouth closed as IceDevimon digivolved, flying through the air at impressive speed. Astamon caught Raegan, and the former set her down next to a confused Kyle.

Raegan wrapped her arms around him happily. "He digivolved! Congratulations!"

Kyle blushed slightly, feeling odd at her sudden embrace. He forced the beaming girl off of him silently, and she shot him a sassy expression.

The duo watched the ongoing fight in awe. Lucemon shot an innocent grin at Astamon, despite his scary appearance.

Astamon smirked and prepared his gun. "Rapid Fire!" (breif author's note. I changed his attack name so it didn't swear. If this is already an attack, I apologize)

Astamon fired pellets from his gun at MegaKabuterimon rapidly. MegaKabuterimon grunted at the attack. But he wasn't giving up easily.

"Horn Buster!" MegaKabuterimon yelled, shooting his assault from his horn. The attack slammed into Astamon, knocking the wind from the Digimon.

"Get up," Kyle whispered as MegaKabuterimon loomed over his partner threateningly.

"Horn Buster!"

"Grand Cross!"

Lucemon jumped in front of the winded Astamon, counterattacking the Shadow Reigner courageously. "Go on! I got him for now!"

Astamon nodded. He leapt to his feet, and the attacks he had been watching exploded into nonexistence.

Lucemon jumped at MegaKabuterimon firecely. "Divine Feat!"

A light sword appeared in his hand. Astamon got his own weapon ready. Both Digimon looked at each other before nodding.

The sword and knife hit MegaKabuterimon's rough shell. They bounced off ineffectively.

"Go for his chest!" Kyle yelled. The Digimon nodded and followed his instructions.

Kyle's crest glowed even more. Kyle looked down and noticed his Digivice nearly jumping off of his belt. He grabbed the device and held it firmly.

It vibrated intensely at the crest's light. The glow combined into a swirl and it combined to form a silvery purple color. The light struck Lucemon's slightly bent sword, charging it with energy. The light split and hit Astamon's crooked knife and returned it to a straight form.

Both Digimon had a perfect idea of what this meant. They dove for MegaKabuterimon's chest.

The weapons were perfectly on target. They struck the weak point flawlessly, and the Shadow Reigner became data.
