"Wow."
The girl stood in the doorway of the large school. The school had perfect velvet carpets and perfectly red painted walls. The windows shone like crystals in the seven o'clock sunlight. The stain glass doors glowed in colors that words can't define. Two sets of staircases went upwards to the second floor, velvet carpeting perfectly matching the ropes keeping the twenty three students from falling. Gold clasps held the ropes in place, allowing little movement, though the twisting didn't create sounds that indicated a need for oil. A large fountain of light gray stone stood at twenty five feet tall. It was a square like shape with small crystals in horizontal bars across the middle. Water squirted in thin streams from the upper corners of the statue.
It was overwhelming. Going from the busy streets of Japan to the luxurious halls of Quick River Academy was a unique experience.
"I can see why this is a private school."
Charlotte 'Charlie' Kudoya stood with her Digimon partner, Lopmon, near the entrance to the Quick River Private Academy. Charlie's long, blonde hair fell down her back, a bright purple streak running through it. A pink headband held her strands away from her eyes. She had a purple knee-length skirt and boots that ended inches below of the same color. Charlie had bright blue eyes that was the same color as her blue three-quarter sleeved shirt.
Lopmon stared up at her partner. "Shall we be off to your first class?"
Charlie shrugged. "It's school. If it's like everywhere else on the Earth, I'll get a tardy if I delay and longer."
Charlie stood still for a second as Lopmon scurried up her body to perch on her head, ears flopping on either side of Charlie's head. Charlie took a deep breath and started towards the left set of stairs.
She took a step and let her hands rest loosely on the ropes on either side of the staircase. She sighed again, awestruck by her new surroundings, before dashing up the stair case.
Charlie stopped when she noticed a classroom filled with kids her age. No other classroom had been occupied, so Charlie assumed this was the right place.
As Charlie stepped through the door, a high, shrill noise echoed across the school. Charlie jumped in fright at the sound.
"Charlie," Lopmon began, shaking her head, causing her ears to swing back and forth. "That was just the bell."
"It just snuck up on me, that's all," Charlie replied quickly. She didn't want to let on to the fact that she got startled.
A man walked into the classroom as everyone took their seats. Charlie took a seat near the door.
He had honey blonde hair in a ponytail down his back. He had bright blue eyes. He wore clothes that looked like they belonged in a cartoon.
"I'm Gennai, the headmaster of this school. I'm sure you all know that Digimon attacked the world two months ago and everyone got partners. However, not everyone is a genuine DigiDestined. You all represent Japan in the children chosen to save two worlds from destruction," the man explained.
Charlie's head spun. It was her first day and everything was already confused.
"Let's all introduce ourselves before we get too busy," Gennai said.
The introductions seemed to drag on for ages. The one thing that caught Charlie's attention was a girl a year or two younger than her. She had honey blonde hair in a low ponytail that reached her elbows. A black fedora sat atop her head. She had a string sweater that didn't have a zipper. A sea green tank top was underneath it. A turquoise eternity scarf was wrapped twice around her neck. Jeans covered her legs. Turquoise socks were on her feet and sea green tennis shoes were over them. Black wristlets peeked out from her jacket sleeves.
