Chapter Twenty: The Final Shadow Reigners

Anna felt a rush of energy as she reappeared on the Digital World beach. She had finallly rescued Tay and Fumiko after searching for hours. 

The beach seemed so bright in comparison to the Dark Ocean. Tay and Fumiko agreed, shielding their eyes. They blinked madly to clear their vision.

"I still think that's one of the coolest things that has ever happened in history," Ayame said, shaking her head.

"I'm happy we're all back together at the very least," Maia told her. 

Kaez poked her 'sister' on the shoulder. "I'm sure you included me in that."

Maia nodded. She still hadn't gotten used to seeing her old friend around every corner. And this time her eyes weren't playing tricks on her.

"What now?" Ceya asked. "We're back together, but the Shadow Reigners are stil out there."

"I think we should find more crests. After all, they seem to be doing wonders for us," Gumdramon suggested.

Kaez gasped. She fished the turquoise crest from under her scarf. "Any clue who's this is?"

Everyone looked at it. Mikemon grabbed it. After receiving stares of irritation, Mikemon spoke sheepishly. "It looks sparkly."

Raegan sighed, shaking her head. She put the crest around her neck. "The things you get me into, Mikey."

"Well, now that we've gotten that out of the way, who's crest is this?" Kyle asked, holding up the crest of Darkness.

Kaez stared at it before gasping. A sea foam green glow had enveloped the crest, and it slowly peeled away to reveal the crest had changed color to the minty green.

"That was weird," Jimmee said, dumbfounded.

"If we don't know who's it is, I guess I could hold on to it," Kaez shrugged, taking it from Kyle's fingers before wrapping it around her neck.

Maia then face palmed. "I can't believe I forgot! When Fumiko got captured by the Shadow Reigners, a crest signal was found, and I forgot to go and check it out!"

Anna sighed. "I guess we're splitting ways again then. Tay's Digivice is detecting a crest as well."

"What about we go in the same groups as four years ago?"

Everyone turned to see Ayame gripping her crest tight to her chest. "We can meet back here tomorrow."

Charlie nodded. "I don't see a reason why not."

"Not so fast!"

The group turned to see two large Digimon towering over them. One was Zudomon X, the other MarineDevimon. The latter smirked. "I see we have some smaller prey than usual."

Sam turned. He didn't know what he was saying, but it felt almost...right. "Anna! Get your group out of here! We can hold them off!"

Anna nodded. She grabbed Kaez and Maia's hands. Jimmee, Fumiko, and Ayame were close behind.

As the others sprinted into the distance, Raegan's head swirled. She noticed a large cave behind them, and an idea sprung to her head. "Hide in the cave! I think I have a plan!"

Charlie ran, Lopmon's ears flopping in the breeze as she did so. Tay and Gatomon did the same, ducking into the safety of the cavern.

Sam hesitated. "I told Anna I'd help you!"

"And you can help by making sure the others get to safety!" Raegan exclaimed.

Sam nodded as Dracomon dragged him towards Charlie and Tay. Ceya looked at Raegan nervously as she followed. She didn't want to leave her best friend, but when was Raegan reckless?
