"OWWW!"

Kyle shrieked uncharacteristically loud at Charlie's fingers pulling through his hair. Since the team had reunited, Charlie hadn't stopped playing with his silvery blue strands.

"What?! Your hair is a desperate fashion "don't"," Charlie told him, still fixing his hair.

Kyle eyed Raegan, who's hair was being done by Tay. "How do you live like this?!"

Raegan grinned at him sympathetically. "You get used to it."

With one final tug, Charlie nodded in approval at Kyle's hair. It was now free of tangles but looked pretty much the same otherwise.

"There," Tay said in satisfaction, finishing the right ponytail of Raegan's. Both girls grinned.

Kyle just shook his head. "I will never understand women," he told himself.

"I heard that!" Kaez snapped. Her crest glowed slightly.

Anna eyed the shine. "Isn't it weird? Our crests have strange effects on us for some reason."

"Yeah. You saw through that Dark Ocean illusion so easily," Sam recalled.

"Maybe our crests give us some small power of sorts. When IceDevimon digivolved, time sort of stopped so I could think through a strategy of attack," Kyle said.

"Maybe that's yours and seeing through illusions is Anna's. But what is everyone else's?" Renamon asked.

Tay and Fumiko looked at their crests. They levitated closer to each other before linking. The girls gasped before Fumiko spoke. "I told you about my dreams about the crest, right?"

Tay nodded. "I've had them too. I kind of think that dream world is where our crest powers will become clear."

"Yeah. So all we do is fall asleep and figure out what all that means?" Fumiko asked.

"I think so," Tay agreed.

"Then go for it! We've got your back in case the Shadow Reigners show up," Maia smiled.

The duo nodded. "Gatomon, be here when I wake up, okay?"

The cat nodded. Terriermon did the same gesture to Fumiko.

The girls walked closer to the back of the cave they were using as a temporary home. It was good enough.

-----

Tay's eyes opened slightly to see white light. The outline of Fumiko stood beside her. Everything focused in her vision to see the outline of the crest of Loyalty before her.

The light seemed entrancing. Neither girl could say anything. They simply stared into it silently.

"Something here must tell us about our crests," Fumiko finally said.

Tay nodded. "But what exactly? This place seems empty."

The crest sign zoomed closer, halting inches from their faces. Wind flew over their skin a second later, making their hair go backwards before falling on their spines again.

Both girls could see a figure in the crest's lines before them. It looked like a smaller version of them.

"Four years ago," Fumiko breathed in recollection. She remembered the same smile she had made four years before when the group had returned to the real world after their adventures. The picture still hung on her wall.

Tay was staring at something similar. Everything was so familiar in this world of unknown. It felt so comforting, surrounding them like a fuzzy blanket.

"I remember when that happened. It was before Ceya fell and left us," Tay whispered. A tear came to her eye.

"I remember this too. It was before Maia left and Kaez ran away," Fumiko breathed.

"It's wonderful, isn't it?" Tay asked.

The picture changed to show Fumiko kicking a soccer ball shortly after the Digital World adventure. She walked back to the bench after the game ended when her coach came up to her.

"You're always one jump ahead," he had told her.

Fumiko turned to see Tay. A translucent figure hung over her. It was a replica of the girl, but this one touched the crest instead.

A second later, Tay filled the outline. She was watching a younger her watch a TV show. "I'm going to be just like her one day!"

Tay watched a younger her accurately impersonate a fictional character from a show she used to watch. She closed her eyes at the wonderful memory.

Fumiko felt a hundred one thoughts whiz through her mind. She had just seen what Tay was about to do and that she was always one jump ahead. What did it mean?

Then it hit her like Terriermon jumping on her head. "I can read the next movement." (A/N This means that she knows what someone is about to do so she can prepare for it.)

Tay was hit with a similar realization after thinking through what had just happened. Accurate impersonations of fictional characters...that was her talent. To easily pose as someone she knew.

"And I can be another's person," Tay realized.

Fumiko looked at her. Tay turned. "I think we've gotten all we need from this place."

Tay nodded. "I agree entirely."

-----

Gatomon sat next to Tay, nervously playing with her tail ring. "Wake up, Tay."

Terriermon tickled Dracomon with her ears. "Don't worry about it. I trust Fumi."

"You call your partner Fumi?" Raegan asked.

Terriermon nodded. "It fits, doesn't it?"

Raegan replied with a laugh. "In some way, it does."

The cave began shaking rapidly. Anna and Kaez, who had been standing, were thrown to the ground.

"What's going on?" Sam exclaimed.

Ceya ran out of the cave. "BlackRapidmon."

Tsukaimon growled. "We can take him!"

"No! It took Impmon reaching ultimate to defeat Kyle's Shadow Reigner. BlackRapidmon is Fumiko's, so I think only she can take him on," Mikemon yelled.

Ceya ducked back into the cave. "Maybe he didn't see us."

The cave rattled more. "No such luck," Patamon replied.

-----

The dream world was crumbling rapidly. Everything shattered before the girls' eyes. The crests glowed and made a dark green and light blue shield around them.

"We have to get out of here!" Fumiko exclaimed. The enormous crest spun and shrunk, splitting into two copies. One went to Tay and the other to Fumiko.

"Then let's use these crests of ours and get out of this place! The others need us!" Tay shouted.

The crest light surrounded them as the white vanished entirely.

The shimmer ceased.

And the girls were gone.

A/N

Here you are!

From here on out, a Digimon will digivolve every other chapter. Next is Fumiko, then Tay.

And if you feel like your OC isn't getting enough attention, you remember the Dark Ocean chapters where everyone had a partner? When one half of the partnership digivolves, the other half is major. (Ex. Fumiko's partner is about to digivolve and Tay is a major character.)

See you guys around!
