Chapter Forty Four: Fall of the Final

SkullGreymon grabbed MarineDevimon's arms and started swinging. The two became a whirl of white and blue as they spun. And when the momentum was enough, SkullGreymon let go, and MarineDevimon was flying through the air.

MarineDevimon hit the water about a mile off. Water went flying everywhere.

Water splashed over the bird figure, Anna, Sam, Coredramon, Taomon, and SkullGreymon. Under the water, SkullGreymon shrunk into a human-shaped figure.

"Sometimes turning into a giant killer dinosaur can be really helpful."

Sam turned to see a familiar face smirking, covered in water. "Ceya!"

Yatakaramon came flying down to land next to Ceya. "Was that cool or what?!" Ceya grinned.

"Very," Sam smiled. "But since when can you do that?"

Ceya shrugged. "Does it matter?"

"Uh, guys! MarineDevimon is back!" Anna exclaimed.

Anna was right. MarineDevimon had swam back to shore. The large Digimon burst out of the water, splashing everyone once again.

"When this guy is defeated, I'll be so relieved to not be splashed with water every two minutes," Taomon muttered.

"Hey, guys!"

Sam turned around and saw Natsumi riding Seasarmon closer. "We got your back!" Natsumi shouted as Seasarmon slid to a stop next to Coredramon.

Ceya clenched her fists. "I'm going to turn into SkullGreymon again. Cover for me for a minute."

"Dark Deluge!" MarineDevimon shouted. He sent out a bunch of ink that splattered all over Sam, Anna, Natsumi, Coredramon, Taomon, Seasarmon, and Yatakaramon.

Sam tried to move to get Coredramon to attack, but he couldn't. No matter his inner strength, his body just did nothing. "Can't...move!"

"I got you guys covered!" Ceya exclaimed. "Courage and Friendship Charge Digivolve!" Blue and orange light surrounded her, which made MarineDevimon's ink fall to the ground before it could hit her.

When the light faded, SkullGreymon stood where Ceya had been seconds before. "Dark Shot!" The missile from SkullGreymon's back swirled through the air and smashed into MarineDevimon.

The others could now move again. Yatakaramon soared skyward and nose dived at MarineDevimon. At the last minute, Yatakaramon drove on of his three feet at MarineDevimon.

MarineDevimon swatted the bird aside. Yatakaramon managed to catch his balance just before he would have smashed into SkullGreymon. The bird flew up to avoid a collision.

"Talisman of Light!" Taomon exclaimed, sending a large symbol forward at MarineDevimon. The large Digimon swatted it aside, diverting the attack towards Sam.

Just before the attack could hit Sam, Coredramon stepped in front.

Sam screamed, and as the sound echoed, time slowed.

"Keeper of Bravery and Inheritor of Hope, bring light to this fight and end it. The only way to save your partner is to digivolve. Do you wish to?"

Sam nodded wildly. "More than anything!"

"Very well then."

Coredramon stood shakily, but he swallowed by a column of yellow light. "Digivolution...!"

Sam grinned. Coredramon would digivolve and defeat the final Shadow Reigner and this nightmare would be over!

"It's about time that this ended...for good!"

"COREDRAMON, DIGIVOLVE TO...WINGDRAMON!"

Sam started cheering as Wingdramon took Coredramon's place. "Want to go for a ride?"

Sam nodded. "Yes, please!"

Wingdramon lowered himself to the ground so that Sam could climb on top of him. Sam mounted the Digimon. He hollered when Wingdramon took to the skies.

"Blaze Sonic Breath!" Wingdramon exclaimed, sending a flare of energy at MarineDevimon.

MarineDevimon groaned as the attack hit. "I curse digivolution...!"

"Talisman of Light!" Taomon repeated. She forced the attack forward, sure it would hit its mark this time.

It did.

MarineDevimon was sent stumbling backwards into the water. For the third time that day, our heroes were splattered with water.

Anna groaned. "Remind me to never get in a fight with a water Digimon again."

Natsumi nodded. "Agreed."

"How do you think I feel?! I'm huge!" SkullGreymon (Ceya) thundered. She was most likely just expressing her frustration, but it sounded like a storm to everyone below.

"Focus, you guys!" Sam ordered. "MarineDevimon is a water Digimon, so he can survive these impacts on the ocean!"

Wingdramon groaned. "You have a point."

MarineDevimon resurfaced once again. "Hit him with all you've got!" Seasarmon shouted.

"Talisman of Light!" Taomon exclaimed.

"Dark Shot!" SkullGreymon roared.

"Mikafutsu-no-kami!" Yatakaramon called.

"Sun's Courage!" Seasarmon shouted.

"Blaze Sonic Breath!" Wingdramon finished.

The attacks all hit MarineDevimon. The Digimon screamed. In seconds, the scream had vanished, and so had he.

"We did it!" Wingdramon exclaimed, reverting back to Babydmon.

Taomon, Seasarmon, and Yatakaramon all returned to rookie form. SkullGreymon shrunk into Ceya as well. "Finally! No more Shadow Reigners!" Ceya exclaimed in relief.

Anna shivered. "Can we get back to the school now? I don't know about you guys, but that water seems really cold."

Natsumi nodded. "I agree entirely."

Sam heard a beeping come from his Digivice. He looked at it and pressed a button, turning on the communication mode. "What is it?"

Maia sprinted down the sidewalk. She had to get down to the docks as fast as she could. MagnaAngemon flew next to her. "There's a Cyberdramon attacking! I'm meeting you at the docks so we can go and take him down together!"

"Seriously?!" Sam asked.

Maia nodded to herself, though she didn't know why. "Yeah. And worse, there's a ShadowShakkoumon and a Garudamon X that showed up too. The others have those handled, though."

"I'll have them digivolve, Maia. See you in a few minutes," Sam said.

"See you then," Maia answered, turning off her Digivice.

"Has it really resorted to this?!" POD asked Dobermon.

"Those kids are smarter than you thought?" Dobermon questioned, not surprised. He had known they would pull through. Dobermon just wished they would come and confront Faye to return her to normal...like she was before the Digital World took over...

"I just wish that these last three Digimon will get rid of them forever. The Seasarmon, Leomon, and Wizardmon have not yet digivolved, so we may have a chance," POD said, tearing Dobermon away from his thoughts.
