We both sat at the table, none of us speaking. Should I start first? Or should I wait for him to start?
"She was taken from me the day I was about to propose to her. I waited for her to come home but she never came."
Flashback
Him
"Sir, lord Zephyr has come baring news." A servant spoke. He walked in with a grave face, his shoulders slumped and worry in his eyes. "What has happened? Why do you look so worried?" He sat down. "Something has happened and it involves Alina."
"Oh great gods, what has happened? Is she dead?" My throat closed up, fearing the news that I might receive. "No, no, she's not dead." Why would he make it sound so frightening then? "Out with it, then, stop with the dramatics. What has happened?"
Silence. "So removed the sacred jewel, the one that connects us to our worshippers. I caught her trying to smash it into pieces." No, impossible! Why would she touch that? We've spoken about the jewel so many times.
"How did she get in? Only gods are allowed." This could not be happening. "She snuck into the portal using dark magic where she was found by me. The stone was in her hand with cracks in them. She also admitted to trying to break it."
I did not know what to say. The woman I was supposed to spend eternity with is going to die. "You know the penalty for this, I'm truly sorry." I grabbed his arm. "I'm begging you, please give another punishment. I can't lose her." It doesn't seem like her to do such a thing.
"It isn't my choice, the council has to decide what to do with her." My entire being felt nothing but pain and dread. They were going to kill her.

"We sentence you to death by drowning." Alina fell to the floor crying her eyes out, pleading and begging for forgiveness. Tears blurred my eyes, looking at her. There was nothing that I could do, nothing I could say to stop them. Zephyr frowned, looking away from Alina.
Two guards dragged her away. I needed to see her, I needed to find out why she did it. Following them out to the darkness, there she was on the floor in a cage. "Why did you do it?"
"I-I'm sorry, she tricked me! If I had known, I wouldn't ha-" I growled at her, sending her in the corner of the cage.
"You should have spoken with me, just like mortal we have rules- rules that are punishable by death."
Tears fell down her face. "I was tricked, I did it for you! For our future."
Tricked? For our future? Before I could ask her anything, the guards released her before dragging her out and I followed them. A portal opened, making my stomach drop. It was the bottomless ocean. Every deity stood on the shore, watching Alina plead with them.
Yama, the god of death came forward, blowing ashes at her face. "You will walk into the water and keep walking until you cannot breathe." She shook her head, looking at him. "Please don't do this, please forgive me."
Her body turned toward the water, walking into the ocean. It reached her waist, her neck then her head was completely covered. Bubbles surfaced until it stopped.
She was gone, the love of my life was gone.
My claws came out and the next thing I knew, it was blood smeared on the white sand. "No!! Hold him down!" Aries and a few other gods, pinned me to the floor, I felt my monster taking over and I was allowing him to do so.
"I'm sorry for doing this." All of a sudden, I felt myself going to sleep.
When I woke up, I was in a cage in a volcano. Damn you, Zephyr. I ripped the cage open, going back to the castle. I felt something shift in me, I felt more beast that before. The place was dark, the decorations removed but the ring still laid on the table. That was the first and last time I cried. I took my anger out on everything.
I killed and conquered planets and realms, still feeling empty on the inside.
End.
Zulu's Pov
"It is still no excuse." He added. I felt like he need a hug. He had all this bottled up inside of him for years, no one to talk to about it. He gazed at his fingers, waiting for me to respond.
"My life on earth wasn't that bad but I was married to a man that fell out of love because-" I gestured to my body which made him a little confused. "Because of what?" I pointed my body. "I'm overweight." This made him frown. "What a poor excuse for a human." I chuckled at him. "Very true, he was unfaithful in our marriage and had an affair with my younger sister. Everyone knew but me."
Tears pooled in my eyes but I refused to make them fall. "I'm sorry that he did that to you." He took my hand in his. My heart started beating wildly. "You didn't know, there's nothing to be sorry about anyway, I'm a goddess." I tried joking it off and he got the idea.
"You went through all that on earth and you came to me and all I did was compare you to another woman, I cannot apologize enough for doing that to you. You are your own and I will treat you like such." I was afraid to ask why the change of heart but I just had to know.
"Why the sudden change of heart?" He hummed. "I just wanted to see you smile. You didn't come here willingly, why should I make you suffer for something you had no idea about? Plus, it's pleasant to have someone to talk to again."
He isn't all that bad. "How about we try being friends? I'm willing to try if you are?" He looked up at me, his dark eyes shinned in the moonlight. "I would like that as well."
This might not be so bad after all.
