Third Persons' Pov
Poseidon frowned his brows at Zulu but thought nothing about it. She smiled up at the man as she looked at the ocean view. It has been two weeks since Volkan has been punished and she is doing much better. There were times when she would feel depressed and then there were times her friends would make her smile.
"I have never been asked such before but I am happy that I could help." He spoke to her before taking his leave. Bethany stood next to Zulu quietly as she sat on the beach. "Sit with me, please." She spoke to the maid who was shocked at first but sat behind her.
"No, come next to me. You have been with me for so long and the only thing that I know about you is your name." The woman was amazed because no god or goddess would ever waste their time on a mere mortal.
Bethany scooted closer to Zulu, clearing her throat. "I have never been asked this request before, your Grace, it slightly shocked me." Zulu nods her head. "Tell me about yourself, you can talk freely, whatever you say will stay between us."
Bethany swallowed harshly before opening her mouth. "My name is Bethany Willburt, I am a mortal that has been working for lord Volkan for thirteen years." Zulu's eyes widened at the length of time. "I have a mother and father, three children, triplets and my amazing husband." The maid smiled at the thought of her family.
"You're married with children? Wow!" Zulu grinned at her as she blushed away. "I have been married fifteen years, things were slightly rough so we could not afford a ring, half of my life is spent at the castle."
"Why is that? If you don't mind me asking."
"I do not mind, my husband, Silas and I have had a very difficult life after we had gotten married. The constant war with lord Volkan kept many mortals without jobs to provide for our families. Sadly, my husband was terribly injured in one of lord Volkan's rants."
Zulu frowned with Bethany at the thought. "That must have been very hard for you to deal with." Bethany nodded but continued.
"It was but lord Zephyr tried to help us by giving me a job as a servant in his castle. At the time, I could not hate lord Volkan because I just wanted to provide for my family. As you can see, I took the job and every pay that I receive goes to my family. I may not get to see them as much as I would like but knowing that they are happy makes me happy."
"What about your husband? Is he alright now?" She nods, smiling. "Much better, thank you for asking. He works at the local harbor, selling fish."
Zulu smiled at the woman. Something so simply could make her smile. "What about you, my Grace?" Zulu looked at the woman who smiled back at her. "Well, since we're sharing stories, my name is Zulu Lewis, I was married on earth to a man that....that treated me like dirt beneath is shoe."
"I am sorry that I even as-" Zulu shook her head at Bethany. "No, it's fine, anyway, on earth the way that I look isn't what you would call beautiful. You will be looked at, judged and don't even try eating in public." She chuckled at the memory.
"My husband stopped loving me the day I started putting on weight, he treated me like a parasite that he couldn't get rid of." Bethany felt pain for the woman, even though her life wasn't all rainbows and sunshine, at the end of the day they were happy to have each other.
"My sister was what he wanted and started having an affair with the bitch." Bethany gasped at her choice of words making Zulu laugh. "Now all I could do is laugh about it now."
"Why is that?" She asked.
"Now I got a man, a god that loves me, takes care of me and will do anything for me. He makes me feel worthy of something, I can finally look at myself in the mirror and smile with what I look like."
Bethany smiled at the woman in front of her. "I am glad you can."
"Bethany, I want to do something for you, you could have been part of the people that wanted Volkan dead but here you are and it takes a lot for someone to think like you do."
"No thank you, I wish for nothing." Zulu shook her head at the woman. "No, please let me do this for you." Bethany sighed. "What do you have in mind?"
"I want to give you a wedding of your dreams and you can have anyone that you want there, please."
Bethany gasped loudly. "That seems a bit outrageous! A wedding?! I cannot accept such a gift, no, absolutely not."
"You can't stop me, my mind is already set. When is your anniversary?"
"I-It is next month.." Zulu clapped with a smile. "Perfect! I can't wait." She grabbed the maid's hand, rushing back to the castle to discuss preparations.
