Epilogue

Hera's eyes fluttered open to reveal complete and utter darkness around her. She stared at the empty space whilst scrambling backwards, propping her back on her elbow and then up against what seemed to be a thick wooden headboard. Her current position was not the height of comfort, especially considering the arm suspended above her head still ached from the scuffle last night. The surface beneath her was soft and gave a little under her weight. It didn't take long for her to decipher that she was in some new surrounding. Her head snapped around to where a gust of wind moved a set of thick curtains, billowing through the fabric and causing the light of the sun to cascade over herself and bed. Something stirred besides her with a groan and she almost jumped out of her skin. Floundering around in the darkness she finally grasped her hand around the neck of a bedside lamp, and pressed her index finger to the switch.
She squinted her eyes with a mix of shock and fury at the man beside her, but the man didn't budge. He looked calm and innocent in his sleep, two words she would never normally think of associating with him. A minute later, a single eyelid lifts to reveal an inquisitive black orb observing her. As if he knew she was thinking about him all along.
"What is this place and what the hell am I doing here". She stared at him, deadpan. The venom oozing out of her voice.
"You're such an unpleasant alarm". He grumbled his reply, before proceeding to stretch his arms towards the headboard and let out a mighty yawn.
Hera scarpered to the door only to see it locked. She turned around in a frenzy state and found her under his gaze, there was a strange amusement in his eyes, the corner of his lips tugged upwards to form a smirk clearly enjoying her agitation. Her pupil danced around the room, checking every direction anxiously.
"Relax sweetheart! I'm your husband don't I deserve to be trusted"?
"You don't sweetheart me! Which place is this? And what am I doing here"?
She snapped pointing her finger at him and ignoring his question completely. Recalling the events of last night was adding to her curiosity and making her agony worse. The optimistic side of her wanted to trust him but the pessimistic side of her had every reason to doubt him.She hadn't expected her quiet evening would turn into the dramatic affair that it had become.
That's the funny thing with life though, isn't it? With her mind immediately on high alert from last night, her mind was racing through a million different scenarios simultaneously.
"Breakfast will be here in any moment. We will first have the breakfast and then we shall go out, that will be an answer to your question okay!? Until then no more questions".
She wanted to shake her head in 'no' but his voice was commanding and powerful and something in her suggested her to remain quiet and do as he says, for her own good. She grumbled back a 'hmm' miserably and stayed quiet. With a heavy sigh, waiting for the breakfast to arrive, she dropped her head back onto the pillow,an ache already developing down the base of her neck.
An hour later they were in car yet again. It was futile to ask him anything, there were slim to nil chances that he would respond, so she decided to bury her curiosity and patiently wait for things to unfold.
"What...am I missing something? could you please enlighten me"? She stared at him with a poker face and joined him at the beginning of the muddy trail. Standing in what seemed to be someone's unkempt backyard, she just couldn't wrap her head around what was happening.
After about a ten minutes car drive, he had brought her to this place? To a wild backyard! Seriously!? How much more bizarre could things get.
He lifted his arm up to point at the mound of dirt along its length in one corner of the backyard, "That's your mother's final resting place".
