While on her way to meet the guy, numerous thoughts were coming to Hera's mind. Looking around carefully she was taking small steps, slow steps and was almost there. She found a man with his back facing towards her. She wasn't sure if the stranger had noticed her or not, so she politely cleared her throat to get his attention. When the man turned around she was utterly surprised to see him.

"Assalamualaikum, sorry to call you like this from your school." Standing in front of her was khadija's brother who had totally surprised her by his presence.

"I am sure you must be thinking about the purpose of my visit to you".Folding his arms he looked at her over a pair of slender reading glasses.Hera was so flabbergasted by his act, that she remained silent but it soon broke off when she spun around on her heel and walked away briskly.

Seeing her go away he rushed after her, following her until he made her stop.

" I am sorry again.I think you mistook me.I am here to talk to you about my sister."The instant she stopped he started gabbling, afraid she might leave any moment.

"What about her"?A sudden fear gripped her and she made a quick dua'a that everything is alright with the little girl.

"It's just that I have warned my brother to not bother her and be nice to her."He said, breathing hard.

" That's it"?Speechless for a short moment, she asked him.

"Yes I thought to let you know". He seemed to be happy to at least receive a reply.

" No,you don't need to keep me posted with any progress or whatever. I didn't tell you about it so you could call me from my school to meet like this. My job was to bring it in your knowledge and that's it. I really don't like what you have just done. From my side it's all over now. So please don't find ways to see me.I hope you'll oblige by this."The straightforwardness of her tone gave him a queer uncomfortable feeling. He felt like she was accusing him of a sin he didn't commit. He wanted to confess his feeling for her but the bleak ray of hope that he was having about her that she might hear him out,was now all vanished into the air.He stood rooted to the spot for the next few moments pondering over her words, trying to give them a good meaning but the reality remained rigid.

"Ummi,Eisha's family is going to another town for her brother's wedding shopping and she was inviting me to join her."Said Hera meekly while picking up the piece of food which she had accidentally dropped on the white sheet spread on the floor.

" Do you want to go"?Kneeding the dough, she looked up and asked her.

"I'll do as you say". Her voice was barely audible.

" I think you wish to go.You are free to go".Covering the dough with a clean cloth, she turned to the washstand to wash her hands.

"Really? Can I really go with her or are you joking Ummi"?She asked, amazed by her mother's response. The bite of food she'd just taken stayed in her mouth.

"Do I look like joking to you"?The mother pinched her daughter's cheek lovingly and she retired to her bedroom."Finish your food and don't forget to put out the lights".

"Thank you so much,Ummi".Hera squealed, throwing her arms around her mother's neck holding on tight.

" What am I going to do with this grown up tiddler of mine"?She laughed as they both embraced each other."You have outgrown my lap but you are still a wee tot in my heart. It's late already, finish your dinner and go to sleep you have school to attend early in the morning."Pressing a kiss to her forehead, she walked in to her room.
