Detention

I was walking down the hall to my next class when I bumped into Emma Watson. "Watch where you're going Watson." I said as I glared at her. She sent another glare my way. "Maye you should just watch where you're going (L/n). Maybe you need glasses because of your poor eyesight. You're the one who bumped into me." She spat before walking off. I quickly rushed to class, trying not to be late.

I sat through the next boring class before my least favorite one came up. English. I didn't like it for many reasons, one, I'm dyslexic, that makes things so much harder. And two, Emma is in that class.

Emma and I do not get along. We never have. Her and I are like polar opposites. I walked into class, only to find that the only open seat was next to Emma. Just my luck. I sat down and got my books out, not saying a word to her.

"It's rude not to say hello (L/n). Nice to know you don't have manners, not surprising though." Emma said with a smirk as I got my stuff out. I gave her a glare. "Just don't feel like wasting my time on you Watson. I expect you're going to be a teacher's pet yet again today?" I said, earning a cold glare from her, her smirk gone. I turned away from her and tried to pay attention to the lesson.

When we got to the reading, I tried my hardest to pay attention. I looked towards Emma, her understanding every word. I looked back at my book and I kinda zoned out until the teacher called me out. "(L/n)! Keep reading! Don't just stare at it! Detention, after school." the teacher shouted at me, breaking me from my thoughts. I nodded as an apology and kept going. I heard Emma snicker at me, the thought of me getting detention funny. I didn't bother to give my attention to her and focused on the reading. Although, the teacher heard her. "Miss Watson. Detention for you as well. Pay attention to the reading instead of laughing at (L/n)." the teacher said to her. It was my turn to smirk.

At the end of the day, I walked to my detention. I saw Emma already there with a frown. I sat down in my regular seat. I gave a nod to Emma, as a silent hello. The teacher left the room, and it was just us. "You really had to get me a detention (L/n)?" Emma said coldly, as if the whole situation was my fault. "Last time I checked, you got it because you were laughing at me." I said, defending myself.

"Well why couldn't you just pay attention and read? Are you like super dyslexic or something or can you just not read? This wouldn't have happened if you just paid attention to the book for once in your life!" She snapped harshly. My jaw dropped. I didn't expect Emma to actually say that.

"Shut up Watson. Why do you care if I do? Just so you can make fun of me? Use it as bait against me?" I said quietly, trying to hide the hurt in my voice. Her face dropped, as if she felt bad. She stumbled over her words trying to formulate an apology. "What? I didn't know that. I'm really sorry (Y/n). Seriously. I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I just got mad but I'm really sorry. I didn't know. If I did, I wouldn't have said it." She said, genuinely serious. I realized she actually felt sorry for her actions and told her it was fine.

We started to get to know each other, since we never really did that. We both realized, we might have had more in common than we thought. "Wow. You know, I'm sorry I was so mean to you. You're not that bad Emma." I said to her. "Yeah. I'm sorry I was mean to you too. I probably should've gotten to know you before jumping to conclusions." She said, as she leaned in closer. I leaned in as well and our lips touched.

They were there for about five seconds before we pulled away, bright red with smiles on our faces. We both smiled at each other, before our lips connected again, this time Emma's hands making her way to the back of my neck, while mine went to her waist. Our lips molded against each other's and they moved in sync.

We did this for what felt like hours before we heard the door open. We both spilt apart and went back to reading, sending smiles to each other, when we saw the teacher walk in. Once we were dismissed, Emma connected our hands and we walked out of the school together before connecting our lips again outside. What a day.
