Fever

I woke up, feeling miserable. My whole body ached, and I felt like I was on fire. I wiped the sweat off my face and turned back over, hoping to fall asleep again so the pain would go away. I felt shuffling from the body next to me and turned around again to see Emma waking up. 

I didn't feel like I could talk, so I just closed my eyes and hoped she wouldn't acknowledge me and would think I was asleep. I felt a pair of lips on my cheek, and I decided to open my eyes, just to say hi and then go back to bed. I opened my eyes, to be met with Emma's. "Good morning (Y/n). Sleep well?" she greeted me. I shrugged my shoulders, finding it incredibly hard to do so. 

She looked at me for a second, confusion prominent on her face before she pressed her hand to my forehead. "(Y/n), you're burning up. Are you feeling alright?" She said, concern evident in her tone. I shook my head no, before using all the strength I could gather to respond. "I feel like I'm on fire. My whole body hurts." I said, my voice sounding scratchy. 

She got up and left the room, before coming back a few seconds later with some water and a thermometer. "Here. I got you some water and we can take your temperature, see if you have a fever." She said, as she handed me the glass of water. I drank the water, the coolness of it making me feel better for a split second. 

Once I had finished the water, I took the thermometer from her and took my temperature. I handed it back to her once the beep went off. "104.3, you have a fever." She said, observing the thermometer before running her hand through my hair comfortingly. I slumped my head back into my pillow, before turning over and trying to get some sleep. 

"I'll go make you something to eat. You try to get some rest. We can go to the doctor tomorrow." Emma said, excusing herself from the room. She walked out and I closed my eyes, trying to go back into a sweet slumber. Eventually, I felt my eyes flutter shut, the darkness overtaking me. Before I fell asleep, I felt Emma kiss my forehead. I smiled and fell into slumber, having happy dreams of Emma and I, even during a time where I don't feel well she manages to make me happy.
