(⚠️Possible TW, mentions of abuse⚠️)

(Y/n) had a very rough home life. His mother had died when he was about six years old, and his dad took out his anger on (Y/n), by hurting him whenever he felt like it. Ever since she had died, (Y/n) was the one who felt his fathers anger until he had left when he couldn't take the abuse any longer.

(Y/n) took some of his fathers money and ran as fast as he could away from there. He had suffered through many years of it before he had left.

There were many scars on his back to prove it as well, big ones, small ones, deep ones, all sorts of scars that showed his fathers anger at the boy, even though he had done nothing wrong. (Y/n) had experienced nightmares often, and always woke up in a cold sweat.

So when (Y/n) and Emma had started dating a few years ago, he wasn't very affectionate, but Emma understood. Not everyone was big on PDA and showing signs of affection, such as kissing and cuddling, like she was. Once they had been together for a bit, he started to ease up and be more comfortable with her and show more affection.

Once he had let a few walls down he was very cuddly and showed a lot more affection towards Emma, which she had loved. He had kissed her a lot more than normal, and was always ready to hold her in his embrace, two things she had loved in particular.

She didn't know about his family life, but she had figured his home life was rough when he was a kid and created some sort of trust issue. Eventually he had trusted her and loosened up and let down a few walls to let her in, but didn't tell her the full story just then.

When Emma had found out what exactly had happened in his childhood, she didn't dwell on it too much. She knew he didn't want to talk about it, so she just said she understood and moved on, promising herself to help him whenever he needed it.

Emma had been there when he had nightmares, he would scream and mumble different things, Emma could make out a few words most of the time. Emma could never make out what he was saying, since he would mumble it quietly, even in his sleep.

He would wake up in a jolt, sweat dripping down his face, but he refused to talk about them with her every time she asked. She would just hold him in her arms for a bit, before both of them fell back asleep.

When Emma found out, she was shocked that his father ever could've done that to him, and promised to never hurt him like his father had.

(Y/n) had never left his back exposed for anyone to see, it caused him to feel too vulnerable and uncomfortable if people saw. It made him feel weak, something he hated feeling. Emma had never seen the scars on his back, until now.

(Y/n) was in the bathroom when Emma walked in. He was about about to get into the shower, and his shirt was off, exposing his back. Emma looked at it shocked that someone could ever do that to him, but she just hugged him tightly from behind. He smiled at her, and she stepped back before tracing her fingers along each scar, placing a kiss on them lightly.

"What are you doing Emma?" (Y/n) asked, feeling awkward about her seeing all of his scars. He was about to move away from her and put his shirt back on before Emma stopped him, placing a kiss on another one.

"Nobody's ever kissed them better before, so I'm doing it now." Emma explained, and (Y/n) smiled, happy someone cared about him. She continued to kiss each one, and (Y/n) finally felt that he had someone that truly cared about him.

(Y/n) never considered his father apart of his family, but now he had someone to consider family. That someone was Emma. She was (Y/n)'s family. He was truly lucky to have a girl like Emma in his life.

Suddenly, he didn't feel so weak and vulnerable anymore when people could see the scars. He had exposed his back more often, only around Emma, and each time he did, she would trace her fingers along the scars and kiss each one softly, silently reminding him that she would always be there for him and how much she loved and cared about him.

She had kissed them better each time he had showed them, something nobody had ever done for him before. She was the first person to ever kiss his scars better, making him feel safe and loved each time she did it.
