Emma walked into the house to find her boyfriend (Y/n) hunched over on the couch. "(Y/n), you okay there?" she asked, walking over to him. "My sister is coming to the city and needs a place to stay, my parents are forcing her to stay here." He explained, Emma nodding along.

She knew about his family. They weren't very nice. (Y/n) could never do anything right in their eyes, no matter what he did. He could cure cancer and they'd still consider him a disappointment. His sister was the complete opposite, his parents thought she was great, and she got whatever she wanted whenever. Emma saw all the good things about (Y/n), even if his family was too blind to see it.

"Alright. How long is she staying?" Emma asked, sitting next to (Y/n). "Tomorrow morning, and she leaves the morning after." He answered, as Emma connected their hands. "So not that long. We can survive." Emma responded, (Y/n) shaking his head. "Good luck. She's a nightmare. I don't blame you if you leave for the day." He told her, as Emma shook her head. "I won't. I'm sure she's fine." Emma answered, and the next day came fast.

(Y/n)'s sister, Hannah, arrived with three bags, one dedicated to her makeup. "(Y/n)! Put my stuff away!" she shouted the minute she walked in. "I don't have anywhere to put it? You're only here for today and early tomorrow." The boy told her, carrying a few of her bags, and they all were heavy.

Emma watched the whole encounter from the kitchen counter, drinking her tea and reading her book. "This is why everyone thinks you're a disappointment to the family! Just find somewhere to put it!" Hannah shouted; Emma taken aback by her behavior.

She suddenly regretted not leaving for the day.

Hannah walked off finding the guest room and slamming the door. (Y/n) and Emma exchanged a look, as he shook his head and shoved her bags into the guest room she was in. Everything was quiet for a bit, until she came bursting out of the room. "(Y/n)! What are you making for lunch? It better be good! Hopefully, you're somewhat competent, maybe there's one thing you're good at!" she shouted, Emma glaring at Hannah.

Emma was not happy with how Hannah was treating him. Emma had a loving family, her and all of her siblings had gotten along with each other, so this was new for her to see. "I'm not making lunch. You can though." (Y/n) responded, not sparing his sister a glance. "I'm the guest! You have to be a good host! This is why mum, and dad don't love you! You don't care about anyone except for yourself!" Hannah shouted, (Y/n) giving Emma a sad look and shook his head, silently telling her not to do anything, which she didn't listen to.

"Excuse me?! Maybe you should be a bit nicer to your brother? He didn't have to let you stay here." Emma chimed in, as Hannah looked at her and scoffed. "Oh please. You must be the girlfriend. I don't know how you manage to be with him, he's a disappointment. Besides, it's not like he would say no to me, nobody does. I suggest you stay out of this if you know what's good for you." (Y/n) walked over to Emma and sat next to her, as Hannah turned away and sauntered off and left with a slam of the door. (Y/n) kissed Emma's forehead, and they spent the rest of the day dealing with Hannah together.

At the end of the day, both Emma and (Y/n) were in their bed reading their books. "You know (Y/n), I don't think you're a disappointment. I love you, don't forget that." Emma spoke up, (Y/n) turning to face her. "Thanks. I love you too." The two spent the rest of the night watching tv, cuddled up together. The next morning went quick, Hannah leaving as soon as possible because she wanted to be away from her brother. Both Emma and (Y/n) were glad she was gone, and the rest of their day was spent together in peace and quiet.
