Emma is many things, an actress, a feminist, a role model, a star, and a mother. However, she is not what you would call 'a cool mom'. Now (Y/n) is what we call 'a cool dad' and is definitely more chill and lenient with Michael, and Emma is stricter. While she is stricter, she is very caring and soft towards Michael. She has a certain soft spot for him that the public never sees, and would do anything, and I mean anything, if it meant Michael was happy.
Even though he's still very young, you can see the differences in rules between both parents. For example, Emma has a strict bedtime schedule for Michael. He would have to be in his crib by 8 o'clock, but she would read Michael his favorite bedtime stories before then, so it wasn't too bad.
(Y/n) on the other hand was very different. If Emma were out at an interview or filming around that time and couldn't put him to bed, (Y/n) just did his own thing. It was more of when Michael fell asleep, then (Y/n) would put him to bed. Emma didn't like that method, but if she wasn't there she couldn't stop him from using it. Although sometimes (Y/n) would receive a text from Emma that would say 'be sure to put Michael in bed at 8:00!' which meant (Y/n) had to listen, since she told him specific instructions and Emma is scary when she's mad, especially when it involves Michael. She can get very protective when it comes to her son.
Another thing the two parents don't agree on is certain foods. Emma is one of those moms who has healthy snacks and everything, while (Y/n) would just go get fast food or something. She always had something healthy for Michael to have, like different fruits he could eat, but (Y/n) would frequently sneak Michael out to get ice cream. Emma wouldn't be happy about it and would be ready to yell at (Y/n) when they got back, but when she would see how excited and happy Michael was with chocolate ice cream all over his face and hands, she just shook her head disapprovingly and didn't say anything else about it, while trying to hide the smile creeping up on her face as she looked at her son.
She also took many different classes during the week. She would do yoga, cooking, pottery, and an occasional English literature class. Nobody knew why she took pottery classes, but that's just what she chose to do. She dragged (Y/n) to a poetry class once, while Michael was with Emma's parents for the day, and it didn't go very well because of (Y/n)'s dyslexia and hatred for poetry. Needless to say, Emma didn't make him go back after that.
Emma wasn't a good cook either and hated that (Y/n) was better at it then her, so she went to the cooking classes so she could try to be better at it. She took yoga classes, since taking care of a baby can be stressful, and yoga made Emma more relaxed. She would come home in a way better mood than when she left and spend the rest of her day with (Y/n) and Michael. Another thing she was strict about was technology.
She only let Michael watch tv for about twenty to thirty minutes a day, and it had to be something educational or mickey mouse. She considered it a privilege for Michael to get to watch at least fifteen minutes more than that, and he had to be really good in order to watch more than twenty to thirty minutes of tv. That's when (Y/n) started calling her boring.
(Y/n) followed the technology rule with Michael, except for the time part. He only broke the rule with Michael by watching fifteen extra minutes of mickey mouse with him, but Emma never actually caught them. She knew he often broke the rule and was a bit irritated but could never actually prove that he was breaking the rule. She also had bought (Y/n) several parenting books, that he only skimmed through once and never touched again. Emma however, read all of them when Michael was asleep and before she went to bed.
They both had some things that they could agree on, like certain toys he could play with and such. Michael liked cars, so with Emma's approval, (Y/n) went out and bought a bunch of toy cars for him to play with. Since he was still little though, they had to agree on a few rules. He could only use them with adult supervision since they were for ages three and up, and the cars needed to be put somewhere where Michael couldn't get to them when he wasn't using them, because of the age limit once again. Other than that, the two agreed on other things, but (Y/n) was still 'a cool dad' and Emma was still her title of 'not a cool mom'.
