Tonight was a rough night for Emma. Both (Y/n) and Emma could not get Michael to go to sleep, no matter what they tried. They had tried just about everything, but he wouldn't fall asleep, which had been a bit irritating. Both parents managed to keep themselves calm by taking turns trying to get him to fall asleep, and currently it was Emma's turn.
The time was 10:23 at night, she was pacing around the medium sized room, rocking the boy in her hold, hoping the movement would ease him into a peaceful sleep. She had given up on reading him more of his favorite bedtime stories since they didn't work like they usually did, and he wouldn't drift off to sleep like he normally would. He would just try to close the book after the third story she read him, even after his mother did all the different voices of the characters and everything.
Instead, Michael's head was nestled in the crook of her neck with his white and light brown colored stuffed dog that Emma got for him before he was born close, as she continued to pace around the room and rotate back and forth on her feet while patting his back softly and humming a random tune. Emma sighed softly and left the room, Michael in her hold, hoping (Y/n) could take his turn trying to put him to sleep now and give her a break, and maybe a chance to get some sleep because she had filming for beauty and the beast early in the morning, only to find him fast asleep in their bed.
She mentally face palmed with a small sigh escaping her lips, reminding herself to make him put Michael to bed tomorrow night, and went back to her son's room, the lights turned off and the nightlight shining brightly in the corner. Emma sat down on the rocking chair; Michael still buried into her with his eyes wide open, peeking his eyes out from her neck before going back to his position before, the stuffed dog still close to him in his hands. She rocked him in the chair slowly, deciding to play some sort of lullaby music, hoping that would do the trick.
As the lullaby played, she continued to rock the chair slowly. She glanced over at her son, after feeling the boy's hold on her loosen a bit, and the stuffed dog still in its position from earlier. She smiled when she saw his eyes slowly slipping shut. She continued to rock the chair back and forth, getting excited that he was finally falling asleep, meaning she could soon as well. The soft music came to a stop, and Emma looked over to her shoulder to see Michael's eyes closed, his breathing soft and slow, and small snores could be heard coming from the boy.
Emma got up from the chair and set him down in his crib on his back, placing the white and light brown stuffed dog next to him. She left the room after placing a soft kiss on his cheek and closed the door as quietly as possible, before finally walking back into her room and getting ready for bed, slipping into the sheets, and turning the lights off. Succumbing to sleep as well just like her husband and son, the house was quiet for the night.
