I finished setting up the miniature car in the driveway as Emma and our son Michael walked out. She was holding him, Michael resting on her hip. "What is that?" Emma said, pointing to the car. "Well, I thought it would be fun for Michael. You know, he could go for a ride up and down the driveway." I said, showing it off. Michael looked at it, and started pointing at it, babbling something I couldn't understand to Emma.

"Do you want to go for a ride in the car baby?" Emma said to him, walking him over to the car and letting him look at it. He nodded and she handed him to me, and went to go get her phone, probably to take pictures of him in the car. While she was gone, I sat down in the car and put Michael in my lap. It was a tight squeeze, but I managed it. He played with the steering wheel as I started driving us down the driveway.

Michael started giggling as we moved, having the time of his life. Emma walked back outside; a confused look prominent on her face when she saw what was going on. "(Y/n), why are you in the car? I thought that was for Michael? You have your own car." Emma said, as she sat down on a lawn chair in front of us. "I thought it would be fun to go for a ride together. It's a tight squeeze, but we fit, and I'll make sure he doesn't get hurt." I said, driving us to where she was sitting. "Give mommy a wave buddy." I said to him as we got closer. Michael did a little wave to Emma, a smile showing on her face as she took a picture on her phone.

"I see you two are having fun." She said once we got to where she was. "Yeah. He's having a lot of fun, aren't you buddy?" I said, tickling his sides. Michael started giggling and laughing as I was tickling him. Once I stopped, Emma kissed his cheeks and started talking to him. "Are you having fun in the car baby?" Emma asked Michael, as he was playing with the steering wheel. He nodded, not taking his eyes of the steering wheel. "Well, you have to admit, he's smart for his age." I said, ruffling the little brown hair that was on his head. Emma smiled at the sight and nodded her head. "Yes he is. The smartest one year old there is." Emma said, kissing the top of Michael's head.

I drove us away and we kept driving up and down the driveway, Michael giggling the whole time. After about ten more minutes, I drove us back to Emma. "I think we're done. If you want to just get him out so I can get up that would be great." I said, motioning to how cramped I was in the car. Emma picked Michael up and rocked him back and forth. He was pretty tired from all that excitement during our little ride.

"He had a lot of fun (Y/n), he's pretty tired." Emma whispered to me, craning her head to show me the child resting his head on her shoulder, his arms limply hanging as she rubbed his back with one of her hands. He was definitely falling asleep in her hold. I kissed Emma's cheek and whispered, "You two can go inside. I'll put everything away." She nodded and kissed my cheek. "I'll meet you inside then. I'm going to go put him to bed." Emma said, walking inside. I put everything away and walked inside.

When I walked in, Emma was closing the door to Michael's bedroom, making sure to be quiet and not wake him. "He's asleep I'm assuming?" I asked, as Emma walked over and sat on the couch. "Out like a light. He must've had a lot of fun with you. I didn't even get to read him a bedtime story. He was asleep before I even picked a book out." Emma said as I joined her on the couch. "I bet he did. Maybe next time we can drive my real car." I said, Emma's eyes widening in fear at my words.

"No! A real car is much too dangerous for him!" Emma whisper-yelled sternly. I chuckled at her reaction before saying anything. "Fine. Not a real car. We'll stick with the little one for now." I said, resting my head on Emma's shoulder. "Good. Next time though, you need to ride with him again. I don't want him to get hurt or crash." Emma said, in a serious tone.

She's a bit overprotective of him, especially since he's little. He's much littler than most kids his age, since he was born prematurely. "Don't worry. I don't think I'll go in it again because it was quite cramped since I'm way too big for it, but I'll make sure nothing bad happens to him." I said, because the car was quite uncomfortable for someone my size to be in with a kid in their lap. "Alright. Let's go to bed." Emma said, getting up. I followed her to our bedroom, and we went to bed, content with our day. But, before we fell asleep, we sat in bed and she showed me all the pictures she took of the two of us with the biggest smile I've ever seen.
