The engines of Paradise Island were working hard. Henry was taking the Flying Kipper. Percy was taking the mail. James was taking a coal train to all the stations and hoppers. He wasn't too pleased with this job, but he did it anyway.

Soon, there was an announcement to test a new engine on Paradise Island. The engine looked like Mavis, but with out the side plates and cowcatchers. What's more, is he eyed the engine with suspicion. "Not bad," he said, "At least you all seem useful to some extent." The engines were shocked! "What does that mean!?!?" asked Gordon. "Well," said the diesel, "It's just that diesels are the future, and you guys are just a bit old." He then rattled off to the station.

"Don't worry," said Duck, "If the past has taught us anything, it's that diesels like him will get his just deserve soon."

The diesel soon started shunting the trains, and he boasted about how he was going to change everything. Soon, Dick rolled up to him. "Ah," said the diesel, "Another fellow diesel! Nice to meet you, I'm Jack!" Dick rolled his eyes, "I know who you are. You were very rude to my steam friends!" Jack then said, "You're friends with those old steam kettles? Well, you aren't a proper diesel!" Diesel then came up, and he said, "Just be careful what you do and say. It might come back and bite you in the cab. I should know from much experience." But Jack didn't listen.

Soon, he was on the main line, pulling a goods train. Along the way, he saw Den with a heavy goods train. "Hello," said Jack, "my name's Jack." "I'm Den," said Den. "Nice to meet you Den. I must say, you look every efficient. Much more than the steamies!" Den then said, "If you're referring to my friends, then I suggest you be careful!" Den then rattled off to the next station. Just then, Mallard came with the express. Jack didn't think this was proper.

"Honestly," he said to the other engines in the sheds, "I don't know what (Y/N) sees in you old relics!" Diesel 10 then clanked his claw, and said, "WATCH IT!! Or else Pinchy will make short work of you!" "Seriously, I do see some use in steam engines, but no in express trains." The big engines the wheeshed steam at Jack. "How rude!" said Jack. "Well, you asked for it." said Diesel

The next morning, Toby was puffing backwards. "I just hope Henrietta will be okay at the works," he said to himself. Soon, he found Jack at a junction just outside Brenton Goods Station with a train of tankers. Toby then saw the station master come and say, "For pity's sake, please take this piece of scrap iron away! It's failed, and all he does is wail for his fitter." "SCRAP IRON!!" exclaimed Jack, "I'M-" "Stow it!" said the station master, "Or I'll take my tin opener to you!" Jack instantly shut up. Soon, Toby was coupled up, and he let Diesel pass with a small local train. His coaches were getting heavier for some reason. He soon stopped at the next station, and the guard looked around. "The airbrakes have failed," he said. Soon, Toby came in, and he saw Diesel and asked what happened. "I don't know much about these air breaks, but I can give a try with my brake coupling," said Toby.

Soon, Toby was soon puffing along, with Diesel pulling, and Toby pulling and pushing the whole way. The engines were amazed at what they saw. Henry was most impressed. "Go Toby!!" he cheered. Soon, they reached Beach View Station. The passengers climbed out, and started to complain, but when the guard explained everything, they forgot to be mad, and congratulated Toby. Diesel then helped the steam tram to a water tower and coal bunker, while (Y/N) spoke with Jack. He was sent away in disgrace. Toby was praised for his work, and he had more passengers, that he needed extra coaches to hold them all.
