After the death of Sir Charles T. Hat, some of his engines have managed to be saved and have been put on a secret railway that is completely hidden from the rest of the world, and has all the supplies it needs. (Y/N) is the controller of the railway...
James is a red engine who can be too big for his wheels sometimes. He loves pulling passenger trains, but loathes any type of goods train. He was originally black, and his red paint was given to him after he crashed on Sodor, and was sent to the works. He is proud of it, and likes to show it off.
One day, James was in need of a new coat of paint, and his old paint was taken off. The painters then came, and Victor said, "We are out of red paint. You can choose one of the other paints we have until we can get your standard red paint James."
Soon, James tried all sorts of colors, from pink, to blue, to green, to black, and to lavender. Then, they got out a special golden paint. When James saw himself, he instantly gleamed with glory! "Now this what looking splendid looks like!" he said to himself.
When James' new paint dried, he went to Homestead Station, and backed down on his train. "James," asked Penny, "Is that you?" "Yes indeed," said James, "This is my temporary paint until the new red paint comes." Soon, James was running along the mainline. The passengers were amazed at the gleam James had. But James also showed off a bit more. He was early, but he braked hard, and bumped his passengers around.
(Y/N) was getting fed up with James. "HEEEERRRREEEE'S-" "JAMES!!" said (Y/N), "I've had just about enough of your showing off! This golden paint work had gotten to your smokebox." "Oh, please, I'm just so splendid now," said James. "Yes, and until you learn not to be so full of yourself, I'm painting you black again!" James gasped!
He rolled back into the works, and his golden paint was taken away, and replaced with a black paint.

James was soon put to work on goods. He pulled them and complained the whole time. "It's disgusting!" he said to Mallard, "My red paint was taken away for this disgusting black!" "You know," said Mallard, "A lot of the engines back in WWII were painted black because their bright paint was too visible from the sky. So, they were all painted black to blend in a bit. You're lucky this might just be a few days instead of a couple of years."
James was still grumpy, but he didn't complain as much. The trucks were quick to taunt. "Look at that engine! Oh, it's only James! His paint has decayed!" James bumped the trucks so hard, that they each ran into each other! They stopped giving him trouble. Soon, James completed his work after one week. He was in the sheds, and Gordon said, "Oh little James, you look like an ant. I say it suits an engine of your size." "Says the big blue whale!" said Thomas, and the engines laughed. "That's enough!" said (Y/N), as she walked into the sheds. "James, I'm proud of the work you did this week. You arranged your own trains, and you didn't complain as often as you did as you were red." James gulped. "So, as a reward, you'll be happy to know, the new red paint has come. Now, we can't have our most splendid engine looking like this, now can we?" James was delighted! "Thank you ma'am! I won't let you down!"
So James went to the works, and got his red paint back. He does show off a bit, but never on passenger trains anymore. He just does it when he has no trucks or coaches. He even helps out often, and knows that if his paint gets dirty, he can just ask for a wash down.
