Flying Scotsman was very excited for today. It was his day to pull a rail tour. For today mark the anniversary of the day he was saved from scrap. He was very happy to remember the day he was preserved. "What was it like?" asked Thomas. "Well," said Scotsman, "It was scary, but I managed to escape." And he told them the story.

1962....

Flying Scotsman was finished pulling the Scotsman Express. He's lived quite the life. He was happy to be really useful. He sometimes visited Sodor and met with his brother Gordon, and even encouraged the dreams of the tank engine Thomas. He is a bit pompous, but his kindness can out weight his ego more often. He still gets his work done. One day, there were some new engines coming out of the workshop. "And you are?" asked one of the A3's. "I am the new modern diesel," said the engine kindly, "I'm here to take over the mainline expresses." The steam engines were a gasp. "B-B-B-B-B-BUT YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!" said a tank engine. "I'm sorry," said the diesel, "but it's been part of the modernization plan. It's said that all steam engines are to be withdrawn from service, and some preserved. As for the rest of you all, good luck." The engines were very scared.

After a couple of months, Flying Scotsman, other than Gordon on Sodor, was the only A3 left. He was scared. Suddenly, a diesel shunter came, and said, "It's time." The diesel smirked, and said coupled up to Scotsman. He started to pull up, until a voice said, "STOP!!!" The engines looked around, and saw a young man with a piece of paper, and he said, "This engine is not for scrap." The diesel then said, "Stuff and Nonsense! He's just an out-dated steam can!" Just then, the board of British Railways came, and said, "No, he's now under the proud ownership of Alan Pegler. He has just bought Flying Scotsman, and he will be pulling rail tours to remind us all of the age of steam." Flying Scotsman smiled. "Thank you!" The diesel was uncoupled, and said, "You were lucky this time, but the rest of you won't be quite as lucky!" But he was wrong. Soon, more Steam Engines were being preserved, and brought out for rail tours. But none were as famous as the Flying Scotsman. He was soon fitted with a second water tender, and was even taken on a tour of America, and Australia. He soon became the most famous steam engine in the world, right next to a certain tank engine, but that's another story.

Present....

"...And it was thanks to Alan Pegler, that I'm still here today!" "How is Mr. Pegler today?" asked Percy. Scotsman sighed, "Well, he lost me on the American tour after he went bankrupt. He soon was saved by another man called Will, and I was then bought by the National Railway Museum, until (Y/N) came along, and bought me and Mallard from the museum. Pegler soon died after I came back to the mainland. On his deathbed, he wished to burned, and his ashes thrown into my firebox. I even pulled a tour in his honor." The engines looked at Scotsman with pity. "It's alright," said Scotsman, "I even heard that they're building a brand new steam engine!" The engines were amazed! They wanted to meet the new steam engine, but had to wait for Scotsman to pull his tour.

Soon, Scotsman left for the mainland, and he saw many familiar places and faces. He was interested of who the new steam engine was. And he would soon meet her, but that's another story.
