Murdoch is a very strong engine. He is often found pulling goods on the mainline, but can sometimes pull a local passenger train every now and then. But he is also an engine who prefers peace and quiet. He has yet to find a place that is perfect for him.

One day, he was finishing his last train, when Edward came with his local train, and he greeted Murdoch with a friendly whistle. "Hello Murdoch." he said. Murdoch smiled, "Hello Edward. It's nice to see you." "Are you alright?" asked Edward. "It's okay Edward, but it's just a bit loud here." Edward then said, "It's okay, just go to the other places." Murdoch then said, "Alright. I'll try." He then puffed off.

Murdoch arrived at the harbor, and met with Arthur. "Hello Murdoch," said Arthur, "Are you here to help with the massive load coming?" Murdoch then head a massive horn, and a large ship came, and many noisy machines came to help out. Murdoch then puffed off, saying, "No thank you Arthur, but I just want some peace and quiet."

Murdoch then made his way into the country side. He listened to the birds chirping, and the wind blowing. He closed his eyes, and breathed easy. Just then, Travis came, with a very old plow in need of repair, dragging behind him. Murdoch opened his eyes, and screamed! "Oh, sorry there," said Travis, "the plow here is in desperate need of repair." "It's alright," said Murdoch, "But I just want some peace and quiet."

Murdoch then puffed into the mountains. He looked at the sun, and the wind whistled around his funnel. This was too good to last. And it was. Soon, a goat came by, and it started to make an awful noise. Murdoch then headed off. He raced down the mainline, and he wasn't paying attention. The points were switched to a sighting, and he ran off the tracks!! His driver and fireman jumped clear before he crashed. Murdoch then looked around, and he saw many animals, making noises quietly. He was far into the woods, and he saw that there was no loud noises. He loved it. Just then, Penny came by, and she saw Murdoch's tender sticking out. "Oh dear!" she said, "Don't worry, I'll get a break down crane right now!" Murdoch smiled, "Please, let it wait for tomorrow. I love the peace and quiet here." Penny was confused, "Alright, I, guess I'll come back tomorrow." Penny then puffed off, and Murdoch enjoyed the silence.
