The summer holidays were very busy, and the motorail was the most busy service on the mainline. Each engine got a turn pulling it, except Mallard, after what happened the first time he pulled it. Soon, it was Emily's turn to take the train. She was coupled up to the coaches, and she puffed away. She worked hard, and the train ran all the way to Beach View Station.

She felt very full of pride. "I felt alive when I pulled the motorail," she said. The smaller engines were jealous about it. "I wish I could pull the motorail," said Thomas. "I know," said Percy, "I sounds like fun!" Edward then said, "It's an express, I don't think you could pull it on your own." "OR AT ALL!" said James, and the big engines soon laughed, until Henry and Emily stopped them. "Who says they can't?! They could do it as a team!"

The next morning, Thomas got the train ready, but there was a problem. "Gordon's in need of new pistons? HE NEEDS TO TAKE THE MOTORAIL TODAY!!" (Y/N) was arguing on the phone, but the caller said that another engine would need to do it. Thomas then blew his whistle. "Excuse me ma'am," he said, "But what if some of the smaller engines worked together to pull it?" (Y/N) thought for a minute, and said, "Very well Thomas, who were you thinking?"

Soon, Duck, Diesel, Phillip, Oliver, Percy, Lady, and Thomas backed down on the train, and they waited for the guard. Soon, the whistle blew, and the engines then pulled as hard as they could. Some of their wheels slipped, but soon, they puffed out of the station.

Soon, they were racing along the mainline. "This is fun!" said Percy. They raced over bridges, through tunnels, and climbed hills as fast as their wheels could carry them. Soon, Percy and Lady started to feel thirsty. "We can't stop now," said Oliver, "We must get to the end of the line!" The little shunters heaved and hoed their way across the island. Soon, they arrived at Beach View Station, just as they ran out of water and oil. Flying Scotsman was there, waiting to take over the train. "Well done everyone," he said, "You proved us all wrong." "Like I always say," said Thomas, "'Little Engines can do big things!'" Scotsman helped them to refuel, and got ready for the return trip.

In the sheds, (Y/N) was congratulating the engines on their success. "How was it?" she asked. "It was long," said Thomas. "It was heavy," said Lady. "It was fast," said Percy. "But we all had fun," said Diesel. "I'm very proud of you all. For now, get some sleep, and have fun on the branchline tomorrow."

After that, the engines didn't quite tease the smaller engines quite as much as they used to. Even Gordon had a new found respect for them. They now never underestimate the smaller engines now that they've all seen them pulling the motorail.
