Edward is one of the oldest engines on Paradise Island. He has four guide wheels, and four driving wheels, with bright blue paint. His branchline runs from Jefferson Station to the coal mine. He sometimes works at the quarry on Thomas' branchline.

One day, Edward was given a special job to do. He was to take a special circus train across the island. He hurried along to collect the train at the docks. The circus manager came up to him. "We're in need of some coaches to hold the actors," he said. "I'll go and look for some," said Edward. He then puffed off.

At the Homestead Station, he looked around. He could see some coaches, but he needed a buck eye coupler. It would take too long for him to fit him with one. He then saw Henry with a local passenger train. "Hello Henry," said Edward, "Can I borrow one of your coaches?" "Sorry Edward," said Henry, "there are quite a few extra passengers. I need all four of them." Henry then puffed off. Spencer was with the Pullman coaches, and Edward asked, "Can I borrow one of your coaches? I need it for a special train." "Sorry Edward," said Spencer, "But these are needed today." Spencer then puffed off.

At the Junction, Edward saw Gordon, Thomas and Toby. "Hello everyone," said Edward, "Can I borrow one of your coaches? I need it for a special train." Gordon snorted, "It can't be more important than the express." He then puffed away. Toby said, "I'm sorry, but Henrietta is needed to take the workmen." Thomas then said, "Maybe later. I need Annie and Clarabel to collect the passengers."

At the Seaside Station, James was enjoying the sea breeze, when Edward came up. "Hello James," said Edward, "Could I borrow one of your coaches please? I need it for a special train." James said, "No Edward! I need them for my passenger run!!" James then steamed away. Edward was now looking for a coach he couldn't get.

He soon arrived back at the docks, without a coach. Soon, Bill and Ben came with one of the Pullman coaches. Edward was confused. "Did you two steal that coach?" "We managed to get it after the first run," said Ben. "We then said we would go and get the train ready for the return trip, and we did. We did managed to get one of them without them noticing," said Bill. "Why?" asked Edward. "You needed a coach," said Bill. "And we wanted to make up for some of the tricks we played on you," said Ben. Edward smiled, "Thank you, but...." "Oh," said the circus manager, "You managed to get a coach. Well, we can leave now." Bill and Ben quickly shunted the Pullman to the train, and helped Edward organize the train.

Edward pulled the train with pride. He soon arrived at the station at the end of the line. Flying Scotsman then said, "So that's where the missing Pullman coach went to." "Why did you just take it?" asked Thomas. "I didn't," said Edward, "Bill and Ben did." He then explained what they did, and soon, everyone laughed as they watched the circus was set up. Soon, the engines laughed, and cheered as they watched the circus put on their show. Edward had to thank Bill and Ben for getting the Pullman for him.
