"Shit!" I cussed out loud. When I opened my eyes, I saw something that reminded me of that terrible memory. The colossal titan stared at us, at me— just like what he did five years ago. He was finally right in front of me. Bertholdt raised his large, fleshy red arm, making it seem like he was going to attack all of us.

I clicked my tongue. "Everyone, jump out of the wall!" I shouted loudly—so loud that I could feel my throat scratch from the inside. We all jolted toward the edges and took a leap of faith.

"He got Ymir and someone else!" yelled Historia. When I turned around, my eyes caught a glimpse of him putting two people in his nasty mouth.

"That son of a bitch. I'll fucking kill him!" I exclaimed as we landed just on the sides of the walls. Hanji's brows met.

"No! We can't. Not right now. We're outnumbered and overpowered," she tried to explain.

I tightened the grip on my blades. "We have to try something!"

Hanji clenched her jaw. She must've been thinking of all the ways we could attack. Hanji probably knew that we've got no chance against that behemoth but we had to try something. We won't let what happened to Annie occur again. Never.

Hanji braced herself. "All soldiers! Prepare to attack! We're taking down the colossal titan!" Horrified, the other scouts looked at her like crazy. They fell silent. Lips trembling, the scouts' brows furrowed while they looked at their target.

I clicked my tongue. "Let's go!" Now, they were looking at me in disbelief. I know—I know we seem delirious by thinking we could beat him, that we can take him down but there's nothing else we could do but try. The colossal has to have some weakness.

Luckily, they all snapped out of it and launched themselves toward the target. We were meters up in the air, maneuvering toward the colossal. What once was a fragment of Bertholdt in my memories burned into this image.

He positioned his right arm, preparing to attack. If we get caught, death is all that we'll meet. The red behemoth attempted to strike us but we were quick to dodge the hit. Hanji and I glided across his long arms in order to get closer to his nape. It was just like what the reports said: he's slow and his movements are limited. The only threat from this titan is its transformation—

—Is what I thought but I never thought Bertholdt was hiding something in his sleeves. My eyes and lips shut tightly after a huge wave of steam emitted off of his body. It burned. The steam was hotter than anything else I've felt before.

"Fuck! Fall back!" I screamed to the top of my lungs. I retracted my wires and flew back. When we landed back on top the walls, I coughed. Armin stared hard at the colossal.

"What now?! It's trying to disappear?!" I questioned.

The small blond shook his head. "No. Not this time. Something is different. The last time, he vanished instantly but now, he's maintaining his form and emitting heat like a furnace."

I groaned out of frustration. "That means we can't attack with ODM," I added. What do we do? We're helpless against the colossal and not to mention, who knows what Eren and Reiner are doing?! I was angered and frustrated. Defeat is all we've ever known but this one stings—it sucks that we've got nothing against them. Our only hope is Eren but can he even beat Bertholdt?

Had I gone for Berthold's head, we wouldn't be dealing with this problem.

Why couldn't  I kill him?
