MEREDITH'S POV
Cradling my very apparent, in this stunning dress, baby bump, my heart was fluttering nervously yet more excitedly. A night away from Derek, not waking up next to him, felt like torture but I knew it was all worth it. I made my way through the beautiful, picturesque garden that footed a walkway lined with flowers and a insects thriving on mother nature. The bees were suckling on their nectar from the vibrant lavender and pansies, the butterflies were basking in the sun whilst resting their delicate wings and settling on petals. Birds were musically chirping with one another, and a leafy, green, shady tunnel then sheltered my skin from the Sun's rays. I reached the end and stood opposite, there he was. Derek Shepherd, my soon to be husband, looks just as dapper as I knew he would. Suited up, his muscles still visible through the material, his navy blue tie accentuated his bright blue, dreamy eyes I had first fallen in love with. The hair on his head, not unexpectedly, settled perfectly and sun bounced of the healthiness. He held his hands in his pockets as he turned around and then beamed a huge smile, with a tear in his eye, which I could definitely see. I felt my heart beat even faster and butterflies fluttered in my stomach. Still holding what belly I had, I returned the greeting I received, knowing fine well my eyes were sparkling because I knew for definite I was well and truly stood in front of the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

Before even speaking a word to him, I kissed his soft lips that I had longed for since last night. A delicate gesture matched the setting perfectly. My hands graced his freshly shaven cheeks and my thumbs, rested on the sides of his lips as I pulled away. Making a joke at him crying, he quickly complimented me and then began what we considered to be our vows. Neither of us had prepared for these words but I knew exactly what I was going to say. Derek took my hands in his and tried to hold back the tears before he began.

'Every morning and every night before I open my eyes and before I close them, i think about the day I met you in that ER. I didn't know you. I didn't know your mothers first name or where you were from. I didn't know whether you wore braces or contacts when you were younger or why you became a surgeon. But your grace, your wittiness and your poise was enough for me to know that I fell in love with you from the instant you looked up from putting on your gloves. And now i know the curves of your face. And every fleck of gold in your eyes. And I know that the day in the ER was where I was meant to be. And I know for a fact that in the next hour i'm going to see you walk down that aisle and i'm gonna say I do to the rest of our lives. I was always going to say 'I Do' to you. You'll be my wife. I'll be your husband. And we'll have our baby. That's how I always imagined my life from the day I laid my eyes on you. I knew, Meredith. I knew that I'd love you everyday from that day and that I'd do everything in my power to show you that.'

Literally having my breathe taken away by what he said and how he said it, I fell even deeper in love with him than I ever thought I'd be allowed to. I didn't say thank you or anything after he spoke but insisted showed him my gratitude by simply squeezing his fingers and bring our hands closer to
my stomach so that they we touching our child. Right there and then, I had everything I needed.

'Derek, I didn't know I was allowed to feel this. I didn't know how to let myself love someone this much. You let me. You told me and showed me that I could be happy. You're my happiness and from the day that I met you, not once have I not thought about you. The times when we are together, when we weren't or aren't, I still think about you and the small things you do that you know I love and that nobody else knows I do. Like our little secrets. You're the only person to ever walk into my life, that I'm sure isn't gonna leave. I promise to never leave you, to never walk alone or never let you walk alone. I promise to be your wife and the mother of your child and I promise to be your best friend, the person you can look forward to coming home to. I'm yours.'

Almost instantly after I finished speaking, I gasped, and Derek shot his sight down to my stomach.

'The baby kicked.' I smiled brightly in awe of that feeling and wanting to feel more of it. 'I mean rather that or I have gas.' I giggled.

'Well they sure know how to be centre of attention.' Derek joked to me.

'We're gonna have a hand full.' I admitted.

We both stood, laughing and breathing in the moment that I wish would last forever. Never in my life, have I felt so much serenity and peace. The place we were, was absolutions breathtaking and the moment we had just shared couldn't have been more special.

'I love you. Shall we go do this?' I told him so reassuringly and I damn well meant it.

Derek interlocked his fingers between mine and we strolled peacefully up to the venue whilst talking about what was to come today and forever.
