Have you ever had the impression that you hate everything around you? Or the sensation that even the sound of anyone breathing will irritate you? Have you ever been so good, and unexpectedly been miserable and exhausted for no apparent reason? If you are then you are going through a phase known as mood swings. A mood swing is a change in one's mood or emotional state that is perceptible. Everyone experiences mood swings, and they are a common occurrence in most people's life. We experience joy and sorrow. We have a moment of feeling on top of the world, followed by a period of feeling exhausted, lethargic, and defeated later that same day. Small mood fluctuations are a common occurrence in most people's life.
Some people's mood swings, on the other hand, are so severe, quick, or serious that they interfere with their ability to operate in regular life. The best example of an illness marked by mood swings - from manic to depressive - is bipolar disorder.
