Autism is a neurological condition that causes difficulties in information retrieval. Autistic people struggle with social and coping skills. They have a limited range of desires and partake in repetitive habits. They also have a high sensitivity to visual stimuli, such as certain lights or noises.

Parents may notice their children avoid eye contact or do not respond, and emotional ties and parental commitment can be challenging for them. Children with autism may have irregular sensory stimulus reactions to certain noises and patterns, tastes, or smells and may be very sensitive to them. Motor coordination deficiencies and weak muscle tone can occur.

Early in childhood autistic children display various types of repeated movements, such as hand flapping, body rocking, and sound creating. They can arrange or stack objects repeatedly. Any children injure themselves by repetitive acts such as hand chewing and head knocking. They still have an early affinity for monotonous daily rituals.
