An inconvenient attachment

Chapter 10

Charlotte takes me to a rooftop terrace. We sit down and a few moments later Charles joins us. He hands Charlotte a sandwich. "Oh my, sorry Mia, I didn't bring you anything" Charles stands up, "I'll go get you something!"

"No, no it's fine. You eat. Charlotte told me you guys don't have a lot of time to lunch" I say. I notice my stomach rumbling. This morning I was to nervous to eat. My phone rings.

"Where are you?" Lando asks.

"I have no idea, some kind of terrace with Mia and Charles. Oh and Pierre just got here" I say as Pierre sits down next to me.

"Ok. I'm on my way" Lando says as he disconnects the call.

"So Mia, what do you think?" Pierre asks when he points to a screen that shows cars going into the barriers and driving through the corners really quickly.

"Yeah, it's cool" I answer. The boys argue for a bit about who was faster. When suddenly two hands grab my waist. I look around and see it's Lando. He presses his lips against my cheek. "How are you?" He asks when he grabs a big plate of food from the other table. He pushes Pierre aside and squeezes in-between us.

"Good" I say and smile when he puts all kinds of food in front of me. "I didn't know what you were in the mood for so I thought I'd bring it all" he jokes. I grab a sandwich and take a big bite.

"Thank you" I say. With my mouth full I push my lips on his.

"Oh no, you two stop it. This is a eating place" Carlos says as he joins us. As soon as they finish their lunch all the boys stand up. "Mia, is it ok if I join Charles for a bit?" Charlotte asks.

"Of course. I was just taking Mia to the garage" Lando answers for me. "Ok thank you Mia" Charlotte jokingly says to Lando. I stand up and Lando starts dragging me away by my hand. "I'll find you when the free practice starts" Charlotte screams. I put my thumb up. We walk into some building. I guess it's were Lando's team works. We turn a corner and Lando pushes me against a wall. His face only inches away from mine. "I thought I told you to wear my team wear" he says as he grabs my chin with his hand. His weight leaning on me.

"Yeah, I.. I forgot" I stutter.

"What to do with you?" He looks me up and down. Licking his lip. I can't contain myself and push my lips on his. Our tongues turning around each other. His hands go around my neck, pulling me in closer. When a door opens I quickly push Lando off me. Lando takes a deep breath. "Your going to kill me some day" he sighs as he bites his lip. I slap him in his stomach and laugh.

Lando gives me a tour of his garage and I quickly meet the people he works with. Lando is very busy and they talk about all kinds of technical stuff. I don't understand a thing. Lando is just putting on his clothes and is about to get into his car when Charlotte shows up. "Come, I have a good spot were we can watch" she says. I quickly follow her. I was beginning to wonder if she forgot about me.

"Soooo, Lando missed you" she laughs. My whole face burns up.

"Oh no. Don't tell me you saw that" I say embarrassed.

"Yup. I know Lando doesn't mind, but you may want to be a bit careful around here. There are camera's lurking everywhere" she says.

"Thanks" I say when we lean against a fence. Charlotte was right, this is a good spot.

Wow, these things go fricking fast. When I blink the car is gone again. I see Lando coming and wave enthusiastically, wondering if he can even see him.

"Uhm hon, you just waved at Daniel" Charlotte bursts out laughing.

"Oh fuck, who is Daniel?" I say embarrassed.

"His teammate."

"Well shit, he must think I'm an idiot" I shake my head. Idiot.

"He probably didn't even see you" Charlotte says trying to comfort me.

"You think?" Charlotte doesn't answer me and tries to stop laughing. When she sees my face she bursts out all over again. "Well there comes Lando if you still want to wave" she jokes.

"Nope. I'm done waving for the day" I say as I lay my head on the fence.

I look at the big screen. My heart skips a beat when I see Lando missing his turn and he goes straight through the grass. He comes on the track again without any damage.

"Don't worry. These things happen a lot on the Friday. Fridays are for testing en changing the settings" Charlotte says. She looks at her phone. "Come, they are almost finished. We should go sit down and drink something. They do a few interviews I think and then they're free for the night."

When we walk past the paddock I see Lando standing safely outside his car. He's chatting to his teammate, who suddenly looks at me. I quickly look the other way. Gosh, how embarrassing.

"Oh no" Charlotte says as Lando runs over to us.

"Can I borrow you for a second? I want to introduce you to some guys who you didn't meet earlier" Lando asks. Without waiting for my response he grabs my hand and pulls me into the garage. I look at Charlotte for help. She shrugs her shoulders but quickly follows us.

"Ah, it's you! You were the girl waving at me!" Daniel says laughing.

"Wait what? Mia waved at you?" Lando looks at me laughing. Probably knowing how embarrassed I'm feeling.

"Uh yeah, sorry. I thought you were Lando."

"Oh no worries! Just when I was happy a hot girl was waving at me, she was waving at this guy" he says as he grabs Lando's head under his arm and starts rubbing his hair with his fist. Lando laughs and pushes him away. Daniel is being called away. "It was nice to meet you Mia, see you again tomorrow?" He winks his eyebrows as he walks away. "Fuck off" Lando jokes. Lando introduces me to a few more people. I think I forgot all of their names again.

"Well, you go do your thing now and we'll be on the terrace when you're done" Charlotte says as she drags me away. We sit in the sun. Talking the time away. It seems only a few minutes later when Lando walks up to us. I look at my watch and it is actually a couple hours later.

"Ok, I'm done for the day" Lando says, "ready to go to the hotel?"

"Yeah, I just have to grab my bag from Charlotte's car."

When we arrive at Charlotte's car Lando grabs the bag and puts it in his car. "Dinner at 9?" Charlotte asks Lando.

"Yeah sure" he says as he opens his car door for me.

"See you later" I say to Charlotte as we drive off.

"Oh, what to do till dinner.." Lando says slowly while biting his lip. Fuck, it looks like this man has a plan ready. And I can't wait to find out.
