I wake up with Lando's arms wrapped around me. For a short moment I let myself enjoy it. But then reality kicks in. We shouldn't do this. This is going to make things so much more complicated. I don't need complicated. Not when everything is finally beginning to settle down. Lando hugs me closer in his sleep. Oh no, this is not good. I try to wiggle my way out of the bed, without waking him up.
"Where are you going?" Lando asks while pulling me in closer, holding me tightly. His voice all husky. "I need to shower."
"Great, i'll join you" he says, burying his face in my neck. "Lando, friends don't shower together" I hold back a giggle. "Good friends sometimes do" he jokes. "No, they don't" I say when i'm able to stand up. "Best friends do?" I shake my head. "No, they don't."
"But they do sleep together?" He looks at me with a smirk on his face. I throw a pillow towards his head. "Maybe just once" I can't hold back my laugh. "Best friends don't let their lonely friends sleep alone, you know?" he says. I grab some clothes and quickly lock the bathroom door behind me, before Lando decides to join me. And we both know I wouldn't send him away.
When i'm done Lando hasn't moved. "When do you leave?" he asks. "Tomorrow, and you?"
"Tuesday, i'm going house shopping on monday en tuesday morning" Lando says, like he didn't just say a huge thing. "You're what?"
"Oh yeah, i'm moving here."
"Here? To Monaco?" I ask. He nods. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"We haven't really been talking lately, and you haven't answered my messages" he says. Ok, that's true. "Why are you moving?" I ask. "It's easier. Monaco is more central, easier to go places. And I really like it here" Lando explains. I nod. It's cool he's moving here, but I can't help but feel a bit sad. He didn't tell me. I know I can't expect him to tell me everything, not like he used to. Like we used to. But it still hurts.
"Why are you bothered?" he asks, looking confused. "I'm not" I lie. He nods is head, but it's clear he doesn't believe me. "I'm not" I say again, like he's going to believe it this time. "I'm going to eat something" I say when I walk out of the door, trying to avoid the awkward silence. Max is already in the kitchen making breakfast. "Did you sleep wel?" he asks with a smirk on his face. "I did, you?"
"Yes, but when I woke up and wanted to take Lando for a run, he wasn't in his room. Weird right?" Max stares at me. "Hmm, very weird." Just when max was about to say something, my bedroom door opens. "I thought you guys we're trying this friends thing? Or whatever that means" Max laughs when he sees Lando walk out of the room i'm staying in. "Yes. Friends." I quickly take another bite, giving myself more time not to answer. "My dear, dear friend" Lando says as he sits down next to me. Max shakes his head, while laughing. He places a plate in front of Lando. It looks very healthy, disgusting.
"What are you guys doing today?" Lando asks. I shrug my shoulders. "Mia was coming to a dinner with me" Max says. "I was?" I ask, not knowing what he's talking about. "Yes, I didn't tell you yet, I have a lunch I have to go to. But if you guys want to hang out I guess i'll go all by myself" he says the last part very slow, making it more dramatic. He even adds a sigh. "Great, i'l take Mia out for a lunch then" Lando quickly says. "Ouch, you're going to make me go all by myself? The betrayal" Max says, acting like he's hurt.
"What time are you coming back? Will you be back for dinner?" I ask Max. "I hope so, but we'll see" he says before he walks away. "I'm quickly going to work out," Lando says while looking at the time, "be ready in two hours."
"Sure. Were we going?" I ask. Lando shrugs his shoulders, "I don't know. Maybe walk around for a bit and see what looks nice?"
"Great" I hold back a smile. I don't want to look too happy.
I lay in bed, scrolling through my phone. I try not to look at instagram too much. The most people are very nice on there, but there are some who are just horrible. And Lando even turned my comment section off. I just don't need to look at it, but sometimes can't help myself. I go to my mail to see what time I need to be at the airport tomorrow. I can sleep in first. If I leave after the lunch i'll be on time. There is a knock at my door. A few seconds later Lando pops his head in. "You ready?"
"Yes" I say when I jump out of bed. Actually I was ready about an hour ago, but I don't tell him that. Kelly looks at us from the couch. "Have fun" she says, also smirking. I wonder what Max told her. "Thanks" I say, Lando holds the door open for me. We stand there in silence, waiting for the elevator. I don't know why, but I don't know what to say to him. It's weird. We're friends, but not really. I don't know what we are.
"You look beautiful" Lando says when we stand in the elevator. "Lando" I sigh. "What?" he acts all innocent. "You can't say things like that."
"Why not? It's true?" He turns towards me. "Because it makes me want to kiss you even more" I say softly. "What's stopping you?" Lando asks.
