"Are you sure you are going to be ok?" Lando asks as he throws his bag over his shoulder. "Yes, I will be fine" I say as I roll my eyes. Lando sighs deep, like he's still debating if he should go or not. "I'll be fine, just go! I'm visiting Max later and Kate will be back home tonight" I say to ease him. "That woman is really going to kill me one day" Lando says as I push him out of my bedroom. "Don't be a baby" I joke. He turns around and looks at me. "No really, if my body disappears," he says the next part whispering, "tell the cops it was her". "You don't have to whisper, she's not here" I say. "You don't know what witchcraft she uses" he says, making a weird gesture with his hands, imitating a witch.
"You're an idiot" I can't hold back a laugh. "I'll be back soon" he says when I wrap my arms around him. "I'll be fine" I say again, not sure him or even I believe it. "I can drop you off at Max?" Lando asks. I shake my head. "He's probably still sleeping." Lando looks at his watch, "that's true." I don't know how many times he kisses me before he goes, I lost count. I stand in the doorway when he drives off. I hate seeing him leave, but somehow I feel relieved. I don't have to act everything is ok now. I didn't want him to worry too much. I'm doing better, but I still have a long way to go.
I plop down on the couch. A few hours later I wake up from the sound of my phone. I didn't even realize I fell asleep. It's not that crazy, looking at the fact I barely slept the past few days. I grab my phone and see I have a few texts.
Lando 1:16 p.m.: Just landed, headed to meetings. I'll call you tonight x
Max 3:08 p.m.: I'll pick you up around 6, ok?
Lando 3:44 p.m.: What are you doing?
Lando 3:56 p.m.: i'm bored. Daniel talks too much. Text meI text Max back that 6 is fine. Then I click on Lando's messages.
Mia 3:58 p.m.: Sorry, fell asleep
Lando 3:58 p.m.: That's nice. I could sleep too. Shit, I really could sleep now.I chuckle when I realize how I can wake him up. I run to Kate's closet and find the tiniest skirt I can find. Out of my closet I grab the prettiest bra I own and put it on. I look at myself in the mirror, this will do. I take a picture. I know I shouldn't send him this, not when i'm not sure what to do about all that stuff regarding Noah. But today I just want to forget about that. I quickly change in jeans and a simple white t-shirt.
Mia 4:06 p.m.: *Photo*
Lando 4:07 p.m.: Holy. Fuck. That would definitely keep me up. Speaking of things going up...
Mia 4:07 p.m.: You have such a mouth on you
Lando 4:08 p.m.: You weren't complaining this morning
Lando 4:08 p.m.: Fuck I need to go, Daniel just asked what I was looking at. Definitely not going to show him
Lando 4:09 p.m.: I'll call you tonight. xTime flies and before I know it it's six and someone keeps honking their car. I grab my stuff and leave a note for Kate, telling her where I am. Kate and I have become closer the last few weeks, she was very worried when I came back. She actually threatened Lando to cut off his balls if something like this ever happend again. I told her it wasn't his fault, but Lando agreed with her.
When I get outside I see it's indeed Max. I make a gesture with my hand, suggesting he should be quiet. He doesn't. He keeps honking until I reach the car. "Be quiet you dick" I say as I open the door. "Wasn't sure you heard me" he jokes. "The whole neighborhood heard you" I reply with sarcasm. "Well, that's not so hard. Since it's very tienie tiny" Max says. I roll my eyes.
"Pierre wanted to come by tonight, you ok with that?" Max asks.
"Yeah sure" I say. I'm glad, maybe I won't feel like i'm being baby sitted with someone else there.
"Do you want to go out for dinner or order something at my place?"
"You have a place here?" I ask. He laughs. "I have a place everywhere" he says jokingly. "I don't really feel like going out to be honest" I say. Max sighs. "Great, me neither."
When we arrive at Max his 'place', it's a hotel. Max gives his keys to someone, who is going to park his car. We take the elevator to the 12th floor. When Max opens the door my jaw almost falls on the floor, it's absolutely huge. On the right is a dinner table, on the left a hallway with multiple bedrooms I think. We walk a bit further and enter the kitchen and living room. "Max, this is crazy" I stumble over my words, i'm speechless. "Crazy right? I have to do some pr thing, they arranged this" he laughs. Max throws me the phone. "Here, order roomservice, I want the chicken salad." I type in the number. "Room 1206" Max adds. "Yes, hello. I would like to order the chicken salad, the pasta bolognese and a bottle off tequila please." As I say the tequila part I get a look from Max. "What? You're not my dad" I say when I hang up the phone. Max sighs and walks over to a cabinet. "No, i'm not. But we don't need tequila" he says. "Speak for yourself" I reply more bitchy than I meant.
"No, look" Max says as he opens a cabinet, filled with all kinds off likeur. "I have more than enough" he says. I walk over and take out a bottle of wine. "Do you really think getting drunk is the best idea right now?" Max asks.
"Yes."
"Fine by me" he says as he takes the bottle from my hand.
