"Mia? You up?" Kate asks, her head pocking through the doorway. "Go away" I moan. My head is pounding. "Did you skip school?" Kate asks, letting herself fall beside me on the bed. "Yes, now shut up." To be honest, I didn't want people to see my beat up face. Again.
She softly grabs my chin. "Let me look at your face. Hey, you cleaned it, good job."
"I did?"
"Yes, it looks better. Don't get me wrong, it still looks horrible, but better than last night" Kate says. I groan. "What time is it?"
"Almost two."
"Fuck!" I throw the blankets off me and stand up. I quickly sit back down again when I feel like I'm going to faint. "Here, I brought you some aspirin." I gladly take the aspirins out Kate's hand. "Thanks."
"You're such a light weight" Kate says mockingly. "Oh shut up." After drinking a full glass of water I immediately feel a bit better. "Where are you going?" Kate asks when I get dressed, she throws the blanket over her legs. "Monaco."
"So you and Lando made up?"
I sigh. "No, I'm going to see Charlotte and probably Charles."
"No Lando?"
"No Lando."
"Good" she says. I know Kate is happy me and Lando are not speaking right now, but it still annoys me when she talks like that. "Shouldn't you be at school?"
"You're one to ask" Kate jokes. My phone buzzes. Kate grabs it and looks at the screen. "Max is face-timing you." I pull my shirt over my head and grab my phone.
"Look who's awake" Max says. "Fresh like a daisy" I say sarcastic. I try to keep my face a bit out of frame. "Let me see your face."
"You look horrible" Max says. "Thanks" I say while rolling my eyes. "What are you doing today?" I ask. "Nothing much, I work out probably. And you?"
"My flight leaves in," I look at my watch, "fuck, in two hours. Kate can you drive me?"
"Sure."
"Going to Lando?" Max asks. I roll my eyes. "No. To Charlotte." I grab my bag and throw a few things in there. A skirt, a dress, shorts and a few shirts. "Oh cool, I'll come by tonight."
"I have to go now. See you tonight."
"I'll warn Charlotte about your face, or you'll scare the shit out of her. Fly save and wear a cap or something" Max says before I hang up.
When I arrive a few hours later, Charlotte is already waiting on me outside of the airport. "You're an idiot" she says when she sees my face. I wore a cap to hide some of it, most people were looking at me though. We drop our bags off at her and Charles's home. "This is beautiful" I say, they have a gorgeous apartment, looking over the sea. "Pretty cool huh" Charlotte laughs. "Hungry?" I nod. "Very."
"Lets go out, I know a place" Charlotte says, dragging me along.
I enjoy myself very much. In fact, I haven't had this much fun in a while. When we come back a few hours later Max and Charles are sitting on the couch. Charles has a look on his face I can't really place. "What's wrong?" I ask when I look at Max, who also doesn't say anything. Max looks at Charles, like he's waiting for him to say anything. When Charles doesn't say anything Max sighs. "Lando's here."
"Here? Like in Monaco?" I ask.
"Here. Like in here" Max says.
"Hi" Lando says. I quickly turn around and see Lando leaning in the doorway. As soon as he sees my face he walks towards me. "What the fuck happend?" he asks, his hand going towards my face. I turn my head away. "Just a little accident, nothing you should care about" I snap. Lando looks surprised, but quickly recovers. "So, are we going out or what?" Charlotte asks, probably trying to change the subject. "Yes, let me change" I say as I walk towards the room I'm staying in. I close the door behind me and lean against the wall. "Relax Mia" I whisper to myself. I change, apply some makeup over my bruises, which covers it nicely, I take a few deep breaths and walk out. "Great, lets go" Max says, already standing by the front door. "Your face looks, almost normal" Max jokes as he holds the door open for me. "Thanks I guess."
The club is within walking distance. I'm glad I didn't wear heels. When we enter the club music is blasting and people are dancing and drinking.
I drag Charlotte to the dance floor. Max spots the dj, who is a friend of his, and immediately the guys go to the vip area. Max jumps up on the podium and talks to the guy. I quickly look where Lando's going. I see him saying hi to someone. When I look better I see it's George.
"I need a break" Charlotte says after a while, panting in my ear. I nod and put my thumbs up. "You coming?" she asks. I shake my head. "No, come back soon" I say as I keep dancing. I dance to the bar and order a few shots.
"So where's your boyfriend?" I turn around and see George standing in front of me. "I don't know if I have one" I shout over the music. "Why not?" George asks, while taking a sip of his drink. He hands me another one. I gladly take it and finish it in one gulp. I shrug my shoulders. "Doesn't wanna be I guess." I look up at the vip area. Lando is closely watching us. "Dumbass" George scoffs. "I think you should go" I say, watching Lando walking towards us. I turn around and walk back to the dance floor. George follows me and tries to dance with me. "Don't" I warn.
"You sure? Don't want to make him a little jealous?"
"As tempting as that sounds, still no" I walk a bit further away from him and keep dancing. I feel two arms wrapping around me. I immediately know who it is. I lay my head back, against Lando's shoulders. Lando grabs my hips and dances with me. He spins me around, our lips only inches away from each other.
