81: Caught in a Lie

Momo walked into the apartment and pulled out something she had in her bag. 

"I brought some tea, it should make you feel better." Momo said. 

"Oh... thanks." Izumi said closing the door. Momo handed her the box of tea and Izumi walked into her kitchen to find the kettle. 

"I just got back from the hospital with some of my classmates, and they found Bakugo." Momo said. Izumi didn't act surprised, she just had to find the right words to say. 

"Did they, that's good. I got worried when I saw the news last night." Izumi said.

Momo sighed and walked into the kitchen. 

"Midoriya... the doctor said they found him at a friend's place. Was it you?" Momo asked. Izumi placed the kettle onto the stove and turned the stove on, then looked up at Momo. 

"Yes... I did." Izumi said. 

"Why didn't you take him to the hospital? He was badly injured because of that villain." Momo said. 

"Because I couldn't." Izumi said. 

"You couldn't, or you wouldn't? There's a big difference between wanting to help someone and letting them suffer-" 

"They wouldn't take him!!!" Izumi yelled. Momo froze, she saw Izumi was now crying.

"M-Midoriya- I didn't mean to-" 

"I'm fine. What choice did I have? I tried calling every hospital that was close, but they all refused because they were at capacity. The only option I had was to heal him myself. It's not perfect, but at least I didn't let his body suffer with open wounds for a whole night. It took me hours to do all that work, and I know it wasn't perfect, but still... I wanted to save Kacchan!" Izumi cried. 

She knelt down and just bawled her eyes out in front of Momo. 

"Midoriya!" Momo ran up to her and comforted her until all her tears were gone.

Momo placed the cup of tea in front of Izumi, and Izumi carefully grabbed it and took a sip. 

"There, do you feel a little better?" Momo asked, Izumi nodded. 

"Sorry, sometimes my emotions can get a little too much for even me to handle. My emotions weren't this crazy until I got my quirk, it can be hard for me." Izumi said. 

"It's alright, everyone has had a struggling point with their quirk and their emotions. To be honest, there was a time where I didn't even believe in myself or my quirk." Momo said. Izumi looked up at her. 

"You did? When?" 

"It was my first year at U.A., me and Todoroki were partnered together for the practical exams. I was so worried about failing that I doubted myself, but Todoroki didn't see it that way." Momo said.

"Huh? What do you mean?" 

"I mean... Todoroki believed in me and my quirk." Momo said. 

"H-He believed in you?" 

"Yup, and he is the only reason why I still push myself to be the best hero." Momo said. Izumi oddly felt relieved by those words. Izumi remembered the news said Shoto was injured badly too. 

"Is Shoto okay?" 

"He's in the hospital, they found him right after the incident, he's got a broken arm, but he'll be okay." Momo said. 

"Oh, that's good..." Izumi said.

"If I may ask, how did you manage to tell someone Bakugo was at your place?" Momo asked.
