84: Ride or Die

Izumi had to stand there in silence as she waited for her boss; David Shields, to say something. 

"So you're planning on creating a new suit again for Dynamite? Why?" he asked. 

"Because... the suit I designed was not up to par." Izumi said nervously. 

"And does this have something to do with the accident that Dynamite was involved in a few days ago?" he asked. 

"Yes sir, the new suit is not properly designed for something of what happened to Mr. Dynamite a few days ago." Izumi said.

"I heard from some of the other scientists that you will get this done by the end of the week, is that correct?" he asked. 

"Yes sir, I can manage to do it." 

"Why should I trust you, Midoriya?" Izumi froze. 

"Huh?" 

"I have given you chances over and over on these same projects, especially this one suit, so why should I trust you and give you another week to do this?" he asked. 

"W-Well..." 

Izumi tried to think, but what could she say? She couldn't just say she was doing this because she loves Katsuki and blames herself for letting Katsuki get hurt, that wouldn't work. That's when she thought of the perfect thing to say.

"How would you have felt if All Might had gotten badly injured and you thought his suit was good enough, but it failed him?" Izumi said. David froze, this was not what he was expecting to hear at all. 

"What?" 

"Do you think All Might would feel okay with a suit that didn't help him but hurt him? No, he wouldn't. Mr. Dynamite is considered one of the best heroes of this era, and he will only get better. So if I gave him the suit that is already done now, it could end up causing problems for him in the future. He could end up in a worse situation if that current suit failed him." Izumi said in a serious tone.

"Why would you-" 

"I'm only going up, not down. And I promise that this new suit will be 10, no, 100 times better than what he has now! Mr. Dynamite claims he's the best, so he deserves the best and I will deliver it! Like I said, I will make this new suit and get it done by the end of the week, that is a promise!" Izumi said confidently. 

David froze when he looked at her strong and confident eyes, they reminded him of how All Might used to always look. He sighed and sat back down in his chair. 

"Alright then, you have by the end of the week to do so. And this better be what you promise." he said, Izumi nodded and walked out of the office.

Izumi walked all the way back to her office, and once she shut the door, she dropped to her knees. 

"Holy Woah, I've never talked back to Mr. Shields before! I can't believe I wasn't fired for doing that!" Izumi said, feeling so embarrassed. 

'At least we can work on this new suit for Kacchan. I promise you Kacchan, I won't fail!' Izumi thought. She stood back up, walked over to her desk and looked at the blueprints Hatsume gave her. 

"Right, time to make some new updates." Izumi said and got to work.

Izumi pushed herself throughout the rest of the week to make everything perfect for this newly improved suit, she knew it had to be better. Friday arrived and Izumi brought the blueprints to the scientists in the lab. They all looked at her and were confused.
