We sat in the living room looking at her lifeless body. My mom was shaking and crying.

"Mom, we have to go. We have to get out of here. It's not safe."

We got into my car, took a few wrong turns and threw the wig on a street and headed in the opposite direction.
My mom was in my passenger seat still crying.

"Mommy calm down! We're okay. It was self defense and I did it, okay? You have to say it, mom."

"Baby, I can't lie."

"Mom, look at me. I killed Amanda. Say it, mom."

"You.., you killed Amanda." She sobbed.

"Mommy, what were you doing there tonight? Is everything okay?"

"I'm fine. I figured you were in some sort of trouble and I came."

"Mom, I love you." I said while grabbing her. She wrapped her arms around me and I was a baby all over again. My mother always made me feel safe. I took my mom to the airport two cities over and purchased her a ticket back home.

"Mom, you were never here, okay?"

"Dee, baby I just want to help you."

"Help me by going home and never mentioning this to anyone."

"Be careful, Dee."

"I promise, Ma. As soon as this is over, I'll be right to you. Have my biscuits ready." I joked to lighten the mood.

"I love you, my baby."

"I love you too, mommy." We hugged and she planted a kiss on my forehead. She headed into the airport and I watched her until she was gone. Tears started to fall. I started to feel like I wouldn't make it to see her again.
