"What's the matter? Benny not tell you I was still alive?" Able asks the shocked Seth.
The two young wolves are currently in the creation labs and Able is standing in front of three cylindrical tanks, wider and taller than him.
Inside them is dense green liquid through which you can barely make out the silhouette of humanoid figures of varying sizes.
"How. Adam told me..." Seth's voice trails off before he can finish.
"What that I got decapitated? Oh please. That wasn't even the real me." Able says, sounding annoyed.
"What?" Seth asks.
"You heard me. That wasn't the real me." Able replies.
When Seth only stares at him in bewilderment Able goes on.
"The me that you knew were nothing more than a bunch of clones. Why do you think I had to go on so many trips. Clones only last so long you know." Able says. From his smile it's clear that he's enjoying this exchange.
"But, why?" Seth asks, his voice filled with agony.
"It was a test. We needed someone to test our cloning tech on. And while it was a pain in the ass to constantly transfer memories between the clones, it was worth it at the end." Able explains.
"But those trips started becoming less frequent. Was that the tech improving?" Seth asks his brother.
"That's right. That last clone was something special too. He lasted seven months and even believed he was the real me. Sadly he'd have been dead in a week even if Lilith hadn't killed him." Seth responds.
"Why would you join her? Don't you know what she's planning?!" Seth shouts.
"She's planning the total annihilation of all intelligent life on the planet. Her goal is to return the earth to Eden. And as for why I joined her.... Because I felt like it." Able replies while making a pose as if he were Jesus on the cross.
"That doesn't make sense!" Seth says, shaking his head in painful denial.
"It doesn't have to make sense. She asked me to help her bring about the end of the world. I was so bored with everything else that I decided it'd be fun. And I haven't once regretted my decision." Able explains.
"Oh, I still haven't finished talking about our cloning tech yet." Able says, clapping his hands together.
When Seth looks at him in confusion, Able points to the tanks behind him.
"These three are the culmination of years of research. Genuine artificial humans capable of full human life spans." Able says, puffing out his chest in pride.
"Why would you clone humans?" Seth asks, tears streaming down his face. He is unable to believe that the man in front of him is the brother he had worshipped.
"Because the only other human was being kept away from us. It was impossible to get enough of his blood for our machine. Luckily, with the DNA that Michael provided, we were able to replicate him. Three times mind you. Although only one of them had reached maturity." Able replies, placing his hand on the centre tank like a loving father would.
"Your saying that those are clones of Adam?" Seth asks him.
"That's right. These three are clones of subject 4DM. Who is himself not completely human anymore. You do know about the experiments on him right?" Able asks.
Seth nods in response.
"Good. The smallest one is L-30N. Or Leon. The oldest one is ST-3VN. Steven. The third is CR-12. We call him Chris. The only memories they have are those of how the world outside works." Able tells him.
"How old are they?" Seth asks.
"Leon is seven. Steven is seventeen. And Chris is fourteen. Although that doesn't matter because they're gonna be dead soon anyway." Able says. He almost sounds sad.
"No they won't." Seth comments, slowly getting into a fighting stance.
"Why's that?" Able asks him.
"Because we're going to stop you!" Seth shouts in response as he charges at his older brother. As he does this he pulls out a knife.
Able does the same.
But just as Seth swings his knife at Able, the latter jumps underneath the blade, spins around and kicks Seth in the side.
For a moment Seth is off balance. Able uses this opportunity to get back into position to stab at Seth.
But Seth is quickly able to regain his composure. He uses his unarmed hand to swing a backhand fist which knocks Able away from him.
The two come to a standstill that lasts a mere second before they resume their attacks.
Able swings his knife at Seth's neck, but Seth uses his own blade to block it while simultaneously throwing a punch that kits Able square on the nose.
Growling in pain, Able stumbles back, gripping his nose.
Then, Seth runs at him, raising his knife to stab Able in the jugular.
But Able grabs Seth's wrist whilst aiming his own knife at Seth. Seth blocks it by taking the knife into his arm. He grunts as the blade stabs into his flesh.
"It's not gonna be as easy as that little brother." Able hisses.
"Killing you isn't easy for me. But I have to do it." Seth says.
Suddenly he drops the knife and uses his wounded arm to grab it. Able stares at him, wide eyed, as Seth stabs him in the heart.
"I don't care that your my enemy. I still love you big brother." Seth whispers, pushing the knife even deeper.
"And I still fucking hate you." Able responds before falling backwards. Dead.
At that moment a group of soldiers walks in, lead by Stella's father.
"Sorry that we couldn't make it in time. A few enemy units popped up from out of nowhere." The man apologizes to Seth.
"It's not a problem. Right now, we need to get those tanks out of here." Seth responds, hiding his tears.
"What's in them?" One of the soldiers asks.
"That doesn't matter. You heard the man. Secure those tanks and get them out of here. Treat them better than you would your own lives." Stella's father barks.
"Sir!" The men reply with a full salute. They then move to start moving the tanks.
"Just whatever you do, don't disconnect the oxygen tanks." Seth warns.
"Don't worry sir. We won't let any harm come to whoever's in here." The soldier from before reassures him.
"Seth?" Cora contacts him through his private channel.
"What's up?" Seth asks. Then he pulls Able's knife from his arm and uses some of the bandages to patch it up.
"There's something I need to tell you. But while I do so, you need to hurry to your next objective. We don't have much time." Cora says.
"Understood." Seth replies.
"Okay, I'm moving out." Seth tells the soldiers. When they nod in understanding he picks up the weapons he'd dropped when he saw his brother.
After making sure they're not damaged, he heads out.
"Tell me what I need to know." He tells Cora while he runs through the building.
His target.
Lilith.
