Bloodshed

Narrator POV

At the start of sixth grade Adam was in class with Seth and Mira. The three of them were playing a game of what they called PG poker.
All of a sudden the room gets flooded with gas and the three children pass out.
Half an hour later Rebecca arrives in class the class expecting to find all three children safe and bored out of this world. Instead she finds Seth and Mira passed out and Adam missing. The next three days are spent trying to find out who took him and why.
What neither Rebecca nor Henry expected was a knock on the door by Miss Beckett.
Back then Miss Beckett was an Eden operative. When she found out that Eden had taken Adam she immediately went to his parents.
Not only did she give them the possible location they took Adam, but she also told them how to attack the place.
Within days Henry had assembled a small army of people dedicated to keeping the human boy alive.
All of them people who were there when they found the only human immune to the plague, nestled in his mother's arms. They would've killed him, but seeing the dying woman beg for her son to be spared they agreed that Henry would take him and together they would protect him.
So that night they 'borrowed' a few experimental extreme velocity choppers and flew over to Cape Town.
Five of the people who took part in the first wave I have already mentioned. Just in case I'll repeat their names. Henry, Cora, Francoise, Arthur and Sakura's Mom. Stella's Mom was part of the second wave and Charlie's parents helped co-ordinate the raid from a command centre a few klicks away. Jessie's Mom stayed back at the farm. The farm was far enough for Eden not to reach but close enough for the choppers to take critically wounded. And yes these choppers are fast enough to go from one continent to another in less than an hour.
It was a few minutes before the raid started that Adam woke up.
As he opened his eyes and found himself stuck in a tank he started to panic.
It was at that moment that Lilith stepped into the room. Like a huntress stalking her prey she walked over to his tank.
Suddenly the power went out as a series of explosions shut off power to the Cape Town mansion.
"Fuck!?" Lilith exclaimed as scientists rushed to activate backup power to the tank.
At first Adam was scared of the sounds of guns and explosions that could be heard above him.
All of a sudden Lilith's escape crashes to the ground above him causing the floor to collapse and his tank to break.
Confused and dazed he choked on the tanks water, that he'd accidentally swallowed.
Looking around he saw an open door and bolted.
He was able to find the stairs that led up to the main floor but just as  he was about to run up them a group of Eden soldiers saw him and opened fire. Five bullets hit him. Luckily none hit any vital organs, although all missed by inches. One even passed between his lungs and underneath his heart. And due to the adrenaline he barely even felt them hit. Halfway up the stairs he ran into two more soldiers who were busy fighting each other. One was Eden, the other wasn't.
Once they saw him, it drew their attention long enough for the Eden soldier to slit the other one's throat.
Adam starred in horror as the dead soldier choked on his own blood.
Then, without warning, the Eden soldier jumped at Adam with his knife. The two wrested on the stairs for the knife.
Since Adam was significantly weaker than the soldier he got stabbed a couple times.
Luckily the soldier tripped over his own feet and fell face first into his own knife, killing him instantly.
It was at this time that Adam's adrenaline started to wear off.
He was barely able to muster enough strength to walk. But eventually he managed to reach the front door.
Although what he saw there would be worse than the two soldiers who had already died. In front of him were dozens of bodies strewn across the room. Some only had half a head while other's limbs were hanging on by the smallest tendons.
There were even a few who were trying desperately to shove there own guts back into there bellies unaware that the bottom half of there bodies were metres away.
All of a sudden, out of nowhere Adam was tackled.
He desperately tried to fight back against his captor but all she did was break his bones so that he couldn't.
It was then that he heard his his father shout out the name, "Lilith" just as he jumped on the woman.
Caught off guard the woman dropped Adam on the wet floor.
Adam lost most of his awareness at that moment as he crawled across the blood drenched floor, to safety. All he could hear was gunfire and explosions as he wondered who's blood he was covered in.
He blacked out after a few moments.
Luckily Henry had managed to knock out the already injured Lilith and after looking around he spotted Adam. As he ran over to the boy he ordered a full retreat.
Most of the people who died that night would be forgotten by everyone and those who had families would be mourned by loved ones who would never learn how or why they died.
That is the story of how they rescued Adam although it's not the end of Eden's story. Because now they are back and they want blood.
