Sakura POV
The weekend just can't come soon enough.
While I brush my teeth I complain about having to wake up at six in the morning for anything. Don't get me wrong, I love school, I just don't love mornings. They make me feel like a zombie and while I do like zombie movies that does not mean I want to be one.
As I walk down the stairs I hear the car start up outside. It's the same perfect timing everyday.
Me and my mom have lived alone for as long as I can remember. She doesn't really talk about Dad all that much. All I know about him is that he was a very kind and very hardworking man.
On our way to the school we discuss the upcoming Spring dance.
I would never admit this but I actually envy my mom. She's thirty nine yet she looks like a twenty year old model. Whereas I look....
In any case she's also a very successful psychiatrist. She's also Adam's psychiatrist.
I had only yesterday found out why he needs therapy.
"I know why Adam comes to see you every month." I suddenly blurt out.
My mom is visibly shocked.
"And if I might ask, how do you know this?" she asks readjusting her glasses.
"One of Adam's friends told me." I reply.
With a sigh she comments, "Jessie I presume."
"You know her?" I ask, surprised.
"I knew her mother." Mom replies, her voice suddenly sad.
"In any case, this is not a conversation we should be having now." she comments as we pull up to the school gate.
"Then when?" I ask getting out of the car.
"Soon." is all she says before closing the door and driving off.
And just like that I'm left with more questions than answers and a burning desire to get those answers.
But till then I have school. After all I can't let my curiosity cause me to fail.
Had she only known that school would soon become the least of her worries.
Adam POV
"So you gave the case to your dad?" Ben asks just as I finish filling him in.
"That's right." I reply with a nod.
"I think that's for the best. We have no way of knowing how dangerous something like that could be." he comments.
I had decided not to tell him about my past with Eden. Instead I only told him that we found evidence that a gang might be involved and that I handed the case over to my dad.
None of my friends need to know what's really going on.
"So now what?" Ben asks.
After a moment I answer, :"We wait in the club room for our next case. This wasn't the best start for us but I'm hoping we at least manage to make a difference."
It's then that I my phone suddenly vibrates.
When at school his phone is on vibrate.
Checking my screen I see it's a text from an unknown number. Assuming it's another "deal of a lifetime" I ignore it and go on with the rest of my day.
That being said, I spend all day distracted by the sense that something bad was coming and that I was walking towards it, blind.
After school I find Jessie in the club room.
"You here to join?" I ask.
"Aye. Me dad says someone needs to keep your arse out of trouble for a while." she replies grumbling.
"I take it that he's helping my dad with the Eden investigation?" I ask.
Her reply is unsurprising, :"That's right. Unofficially at least. If the police ever found out what happened back then there would be hell to pay. For those who survived anyway."
We change the topic when we suddenly hear the door open.
Turning around I see the rest of the gang enter the class. Not far behind them though, is the student council president.
"President." I greet, extending my hand out to him.
"Good afternoon." he replies shaking my hand firmly. I'm honestly surprised that a squirrel has such a strong grip. Then again they are natural climbers.
"What can I help you with today." I ask genuinely curious as to why he was here.
"I came by yesterday with a request but you had all left." he replies, seemingly irritated.
"Yeah, we were investigating a request. But it's been solved so you now have our full attention." I say probably a bit too much like a lapdog.
"I simply wish you had told me. After all I am student council president." he comments, his gaze shifting to someone behind me.
"What's the request?" I ask.
"Here. All the information is on here." he replies handing me a folded piece of paper.
I immediately fold it open and glance over it. When I look up the president is gone.
I had honestly hoped I could play some games this afternoon but duty calls. Unfortunately.
Narrator POV
"I've put him on the trail father." the young shadow says.
"Good. With this we can eliminate two problems at once." the other figure says.
"You may go." he adds dismissing the young shadow.
