"Are you certain it was the wise to tell him. We could've used that knowledge as leverage." Michael asks his mother as she gets off the phone with Adam.
"I am. Please thank Able for the voice changer."
Lilith replies, dismissing him.
As Michael made his way back to the barracks he couldn't help but get the feeling that something was wrong with his mother.
At the barracks he goes straight to the weapons locker.
There he finds the rest of his unit already gearing up for the mission.
Reaper, is as expressionless as ever whereas both Cain and Abel have massive smiles on their faces.
"They enjoy killing too much." Michael thinks as he too starts to gear up.
Since he was the last to start, he's the last to finish.
As he leaves for the plane Cynthia steps in front of him.
"Shouldn't you be at your comm station?" Michael asks.
"I'm worried about Cain and Abel. I'm afraid they're gonna jeopardize the operation so that they can have some excitement." Cynthia says expressing her worries.
Michael is visibly surprised. He'd never expected her to pick up on their behaviour so soon.
"Don't worry. I'll keep them in line." he says placing his hand on her shoulder.
After giving her a reassuring smile he walks past her to get to the plane.
As he approaches the AC-130 he can't help but share her worries. Both Cain and Abel are unpredictable sociopaths that would kill their own without hesitation.
Without a word he boards the plane and takes a seat just as the ramp closes.
Back at her comm station Cynthia taps her desk worriedly.
She'd read the files on the entire squad and had a firm grasp on what type of people they were.
But she did what she could by informing Michael about her worries. All she can do now is support them from her station and hope he has things under control.
About an hour later Michael is questioning his life choices as he falls from thousands of feet into the air to a train beneath him.
But he quickly removes all unecessary thoughts from his minds so that he can focus on the landing.
The train is moving, and even though it's moving slowly, it still won't be an easy target to land on.
The rookie Cain will almost certainly miss a precision drop like this one. But then again maybe that's not necessarily a bad thing.
When he reaches the appropriate altitude he clenches his butt cheeks and pulls his chute.
He hated jumping from planes. While he has never seen a parachute fail it doesn't mean he's not worried about it.
Luckily for him him there is almost no wind so he can make his approach a little more easily.
But, unfortunately, he's unprepared for the train's speed. Thus, he misses his landing as he cuts his chute causing him to slip.
In that moment he thinks to himself that he's about to die but just then someone grabs him and pulls him up.
He'd never been so relieved to see Able as he was at that moment.
And to his surprise, even the rookie was there. Although he'd later learn that Able had dragged him along as he was about to miss the train.
Without a word they move to the back of the train and from there jump onto the platform beneath them.
Since they're radio silent they know they shouldn't expect any help from control. Not even a satellite feed.
After taking a minute to check that everyone has their weapons they stack up at the door.
They then plant a special close quarters explosive on the door and blow it.
The moment the door is blown off it's hinges they throw a stun through it. A second later they hear the POP as the grenade goes off stunning everyone that might be in that car. Without hesitation they breach. There are three soldiers in the room. Each is killed with a silent head shot.
On the dead soldiers they find a few flashbang grenades which they promptly add to their own arsenal.
This process of stun an breach is repeated all the way to the caboose where they just as quickly kill the drivers.
Able then steps forward and stops the train.
They had to do it from the front because and emergency break from the back would've put the whole train on high alert.
And just like that they captured a train. Although with their practically unlimited resources they don't need it. What they actually need is a USB drive somewhere on the train.
"Den Mother this is Condor One do you read me? Over." Michael says into his radio thereby breaking radio silence.
"Condor One this is Den Mother we read you. Over." Cynthia responds over the radio.
"Den Mother, we are go for extraction. Over." Michael replies.
"Roger that Condor One. Sit tight. Over." Cynthia says sounding relieved.
In a few minutes extraction units that were stationed nearby will arrive and search for the USB. Once they're done they'll destroy the train and everyone will leave.
Out of curiosity Michael glances at his units.
Cain looks excited but that makes sense as this was his first mission.
Able however looks bored. Really bored.
Michael will have to keep a close eye on him.
