Adam POV

"Do you think they know that Miss Beckett betrayed them?" I hear Sakura ask.
"Likely. Although they wouldn't touch her as long as she was under our protection." Dad replies.
"Protection that as of today means nothing." Mira comments.
"Does that mean Miss Beckett is dead?" Sakura asks, distressed.
"I recieved an email just before Adam came inside. It was from her. She already knew that she wouldn't survive the night." Mom says, sadness filling her voice.
"We need to leave soon or Eden's gonna find us." Francoise says with a sense of urgency.
The next few minutes go by in a daze as we prepare to leave. I've tried for years to forget that night, but I was the first to agree that everyone deserved to know exactly what had happened in that house.
Outside we seperate into two groups.
Us kids, who will be leaving town to start over and our parents who will go hunting Eden.
Everyone is on the verge of tears as we say our goodbyes. Our parents even stalled by giving us some last minute words of wisdom.
"Take care of the others you two." Dad says to me and Seth.
"And remember, I love you both dearly." he adds before getting into his car. In silence we watch the people who raised us leave to slay a monster that should have died years ago.
Once they're gone we get into Cora's minibus and drive off. I'm not sure exactly when but somewhere along the way I doze off.

Cora POV

"You kids ok?" I ask the small army in my van.
Almost everyone replies with a 'yip' or a 'yeah'. The few who don't seem to have fallen asleep.
"Uhm, Miss Cora? Can I ask you a question." the wild dog girl asks.
She has really pretty fur.
"All of you can just call me Cora. I'm only twenty five." I reply with a chuckle. I'm not old enough to be a Miss yet.
"Did you know my mother? Her name was Angie van Zyl." she asks. She seems depressed.
"I did. She was a good woman." I answer honestly.
"You ladies seem out of it." I ask glancing at the young women.
"I think anybody would be out of it after a story like that one." Mira replies.
"Honestly I'd have been surprised if you weren't at least a little bit uncomfortable after that." I say, nodding.
Jessie looks especially shocked. Apparently she hasn't said a word since the attack.
"I had no idea he'd gone through something like that." the young snow leopard says.
Stella, I think her name was.
"I forgot, you didn't even know Adam that well." Mira says turning to her best friend.
"I'm just glad the children didn't have to hear it." the fox, Sakura I think, says putting her hand on Eve's cheek as she sleeps on her lap.
"We don't need to make their world darker than it already is." I agree.

Narrator POV

"You called for me mother?" Ben asks entering the his mother's office. He finds his mother sitting at her desk typing on her laptop.
"I heard the family had moved." Lilith says, her voice too cold.
"After the attack failed the Lot family gathered their allies and left town." Ben replies.
"Are you sad? Be honest, I know Adam was your only friend." Lilith asks sounding a little sad.
"Even though I only became his friend as per your orders I feel I will miss him." Ben replies looking down.
"Thank you for your honesty." Lilith comments, looking up from her work.
With a nod Ben turns around to leave.
"Worry not my son. You will see your friend again, although I fear the circumstances won't leave much room for pleasantries." she adds before he closes the door behind him.
"What are you planning, brother?" Lilith asks looking at a picture of Henry on her desk.
"If only that fool hadn't let his men test their weapons on those damned cattle. And on top of that he went and killed that stupid cop which led Francoise straight to us. I'd have like to kill him myself." Lilith says slamming down the picture of her brother.

Adam POV

"Hey Adam, wake up." I hear someone say. I open my eyes as I feel someone lightly shake my shoulder.
"I'm up." I yawn.
"How was your nap." she asks as I rub my eyes.
"Not sure. I'm still half asleep." I reply turning to see Sakura smiling at me.
"I guess this means our date's cancelled." she says.
"Not necessarily. There might be a theatre nearby." I reply, still not fully awake. Had I been awake I might have watched what I said.
"Sadly, there's not." she says shaking her head in an over exaggerated gesture of disappointment.
"Where are we any way?" I ask finally awake enough to feel embarrassed.
"Out in the middle of nowhere." she replies pulling me out of the minibus.
What I see leaves me completely shocked.
In front of me is a freaking castle!
"Welcome to Draco Academy." she says with a curtsey.
I immediately recognise the name as being the God Tier school owned by Cora's father Baldur Draco.
"Our dorms are over there." Sakura says pointing at one of the many mansions that seem to dot the landscape.
Yes the mansions act as dormitories for the many students of this prestigious school. And yes, Cora pulled some strings to get them in.
"If our dorms are way over there, then why are we parked all the way over here?" I ask.
"Cora quickly ran to the office to get someone." Sakura replies.
"Speaking of which. Where are everyone?" I ask noticing that it's just the two of us by the minibus.
"That's cause everyone went along with her. I'm guessing they couldn't resist the urge to see the inside of a castle." she replies giggling.
"What about you?" I ask my third question in minutes.
"I'm not really into castles." she says. For a moment I think I see sadness in her eyes.
I'm about to ask her about it when the others show up.
"Hey guys!" Charlie says waving at us.
"Glad to see your finally awake." she when she reaches me.
"That's only because Sakura decided to wake me up so that she could show me a real dragon's lair." I reply with a chuckle.
"I'm glad you think that because this place is just that. A nest of dragons." Cora comments pointing her thumb at the castle.
"The students here are all a bunch of stuck up brats who've never had to work for a thing in their lives. And those few who actually managed to work their way into this school are nothing more than prideful workaholics." she adds with a sigh.
"Oh Adam! We made a new friend!" Pete says excitedly dragging someone along.
I look up to see a young tigress with a smile on her face as my little brother drags her along.
"I really hope he didn't bother you." I say as Pete grabs onto my and while jumping up and down.
"It's cool. I was coming here anyway." she replies pulling her hoodie back up.
"I take it you're the person Cora went to get." Sakura says to the mystery girl.
"That's right. The name's Yang." she says turning to look at Sakura.
"Well we should get to the dorm. Enjoy your chat you two." Cora says shoving every into the minibus before driving off and leaving me and Yang to walk back.
"Any idea what that was all about?" I ask expecting her to say no.
"I do." she replies instead.
When she sees my confused expression she goes on, "There's something we need to talk about."
All of a sudden she starts walking away, but not very quickly.
"What do we need to talk about?" I ask confused.
"I was on the phone when you spoke about the night my father died." she explains.
I immediately remember that Francoise had his phone out earlier when we told everyone what had happened that night.
"I see. So that's what Cora meant when she said I'd meet someone who lost her father that night." I say feeling very awkward.
"I still remember the night my parents left. They told me that there was something they needed to do. And then, a week later Mom comes home alone. She told me that Dad had died saving the last human from some terrorist group called Eden." she says, her voice trembling.
I want to tell her that she doesn't have to tell me anything but I can feel that this is something she needs to do.
"I hated you for so long. In my mind it was your fault that my father was killed. And then last night Eden attacked our home. Francoise was able to save me, but my mom. I'll never forget the sight of my mom getting half her head shot off." she continues. I feel my heart break as her tears start streaming down her face.
"My hatred for you and Eden doubled when Francoise told me who the attackers were. I swore I'd kill you with my bare hands when I saw you again. But then I heard that recording and I realised that you were just as much a victim." she says.
"I'm so sorry. I wanted to hurt you so badly." she says as she starts openly weeping.
Without thinking I wrap my arms around her. I soon start crying with her.
Luckily the students had already left for the weekend otherwise they might have called someone to come get us.
By the time we were done crying it was already dark.
"Thanks for that." Yang says drying out her eyes.
"I think we both needed it." I reply doing the same.
"We should probably get to the others." I say after a moment.
With a nod she turns in the direction of the dorm.
In comfortable silence we walk back together.
