Stella POV
"Time to wake up!" I hear someone say just as my head is filled with a blinding light.
With a groan I open my eyes to find that some blurry figure had opened my curtains, allowing sunlight to pour into my room.
"Good morning Irina." I greet the young maid.
"Good morning. Cora is waiting for us downstairs." she replies before leaving.
After feeling around on my bedside table I manage to find my glasses and put them on.
To be honest I'm still not sure how we got here. The one thing I do understand is that we're hiding from some bad people. The same people who apparently killed my mother.
The thought of my parents fills me with sadness as I think about what the Mom's death had done to Dad.
My hand unconsciously goes to my right cheek, the same spot he struck just before Francoise came to pick me up.
I quickly shake my head and get dressed. Once downstairs I find that everyone, with the exception of Adam and the kids are there.
Adam. The two of us haven't really spoken much outside of the occasional conversation when him and Mira would run into each other.
He seems like a cool guy but I question whether he's really the selfless hero everyone seems to think he is. Does he feel anything for the people who've died protecting him? And that raises the question, why would so many people give their lives for one human child. Something didn't add up.
"Good morning ladies, let's have breakfast." Cora says, sitting down. We all follow her example and dig into the bacon and eggs that fill the table.
With curiosity I look at the girls enjoying breakfast with me. Some of them I've never seen before.
I've known Mira since the first grade when we argued about who would by the last ice cream in the store. It was an intense heat wave and everyone knows that ice cream becomes diplomatically important during those. We ended up sharing that ice cream and we've been friends ever since.
Sakura, I've seen around school. She's a popular girl, or at least as popular as you can be. Basically all the girls hated her because of their own envy and all the boys wanted to be with her. That being said she never seemed to notice any of that attention.
Then there's Jessie. I've caught glimpses of her, but never enough to form an opinion.
The other three, on the other hand, I don't know anything about.
I've spoken to Irina a small bit and she seems friendly enough. But the other girls are a complete mystery to me.
"Where are the others." I hear Mira ask as she looks around.
"Seth is out exploring the mansion. And as for Adam, he's still asleep." Cora replies, not even looking up from her breakfast.
"And the kids?" Mira asks.
"Charles, my butler, took them to a nice little restaurant for breakfast. They really wanted some pizza." Cora replies, chuckling.
I see a smile tug at the corner of Mira's mouth.
"That being said, I wanted to discuss something with all of you personally. With the exception of Stella, although she can stay if she wants." Cora say putting down her utensils.
"What about?" Charlie ask apparently just as curious as me.
I see Yang has stopped eating and has instead started playing with her thumbs. Could that be a sign of nervousness?
"I'm gonna get straight to business." Cora says with a sigh.
"Every one of us in this room, with the exception of Stella, has feelings for Adam." she says, her voice full of confidence.
All of a sudden it becomes deathly quite.
Realising what she had just said I turn to look at Mira. Her guilty expression tells me everything I need to know.
I've always suspected but she's never confirmed it before.
"Ya and? You tryin to tell us to stay away from him cause I can tell ya right now! Go choke on a dick." Jessie retorts jumping out of her seat.
"Relax Jessie. Please just sit down and let me talk." Cora says calmly.
With a scowl Jessie sits down.
"Although we all have feelings for the same person doesn't mean we should be enemies. In fact it is for our sakes that he still hasn't allowed himself to be a part of a romantic relationship." she goes on.
"When did he tell ya that?" Jessie asks looking genuinely surprised.
"Remember when he stepped outside to say goodbye to Ben? Well while he waited for him the two of us had a chat. By the end of that chat I gave him some advice." Cora explains.
"What kind of advice was that?" Charlie asks.
"Well, if dating one of us hurts the group and dating none of us hurts the group, then there's only one option left." Cora says.
I realise the answer before she even says it!
"I told him to date all of us." Cora confirms my suspicion.
It's honestly not that uncommon for a guy to date multiple people.
Since two thirds of Anima births are female something had to be done.
Our elders started encouraging the idea of one man having many wives, and while it took a while, they later changed the wives part to spouses regardless of gender.
These days it's even seen as a symbol of status with only Alpha's being capable of having such extended households.
Alpha status is granted to anyone who has more than five spouses. Alpha status disregards species and gender.
"What did Adam say about it?" Sakura asks. She sounds sad.
"At first, nothing. But last night he came to me and asked me to hear your opinions." Cora replies.
"Please don't think less of him for this. He's only considering it because it might make you all happier to share him than, whereas choosing one of you or avoiding the issue alltogether might just hurt you more." Irina says, her voice sounding sad.
"Please keep in mind that this is your choice. If even one of you were to be hurt by this then Adam would look for a better way." Cora adds.
"I'm ok with sharing." Yang speaks up first.
"As am I." Charlie says next.
We all look at the remaining three girls.
"Why the fuck not." Jessie says with a smirk.
I'm glad she's feeling better than yesterday. It was obvious she wasn't doing well.
"I guess I can live with it, but only because it's you guys." Sakura says next.
We all wait, wondering what Mira will say.
Luckily it doesn't take long when she gives her answer.
"Definitely." she agrees laughing.
I then see Cora and Irina smile at the girls.
"Good. We'll surprise Adam when he comes down." Cora replies.
Adam POV
I'm sitting by my window sill looking out at the unreasonably large school.
All of a sudden my phone notifies me of a text.
I check the screen to see that it's from Seth.
It's seems he wants to meet with me in the school gym.
I wonder how he got permission to be there?
As quietly as possible I open my window and climb down. Once I'm safely on the ground I leave to go see Seth.
My gut tells me that he has a chip on his shoulder that he wants to sort out. My gut is rarely wrong.
