Jessie POV
"Why do ya wanna know?" I ask the young fox sitting in front of me.
I can tell she cares about Adam, but I wanna know if she can be there for him the way I couldn't.
"My Mom is his therapist you see. Everytime he goes to her office I worry. I don't know a lot about his life even though I've known him since kindergarten." she replies.
"Since kindergarten?" I ask shocked.
"Yes. We were in the same class." she says, her face looking a little sad.
"What do you think Dad? She we tell her or not?" I ask my father.
"Do what ya want. If ya think the lass should know then tell her. And if ya think she shouldn't then don't." he replies before standing up to leave.
With a sigh I turn back to my guest.
After giving it a moment of thought I decide to tell her.
"It happened when Adam was in sixth grade." I start my tale. Jesus that was cliche.
"Are you talking about when Adam disappeared?" she asked.
I reply with a nod.
"That one afternoon his Mom was stuck in traffic for ten minutes. So when she got to his school she assumed he was waiting in his class with his siblings." I continue.
"Only he wasn't." the girl comments.
At this rate she'll tell half the story by herself.
"Right. But it gets worse." I pause for dramatic effect.
"She found Seth and Mira alone and unconscious in a locked classroom." I continue.
Looking shocked she asks, "What happened to Adam?"
"He was kidnapped." I give the obvious answer.
After taking a sip of tea I continue, "Their are people in the underworld who collect rare things both living and dead. Back then the richest among them was some bonkers bitch who apparently couldn't take no for an answer. I don't know how they found Adam or what exactly went down when they rescued him. What I do know is that it wasn't legal and people died."
"It must've been terrifying." the girl comments.
"Their's one more thing." I add.
"The wounded all came here to avoid any questions hospitals might ask. I saw Adam that night. It's a sight I won't ever forget. He was covered in blood. Most of it was his, some of it wasn't." I say remembering that night. It gave me nightmares for months.
"What do you mean most of it was his?" she asks.
"He was shot five times, stabbed twice and had a bunch of broken bones." I reply.
She is visibly shocked.
Makes sense. These prissy city girls ain't ever seen a wound bigger than a broken nail. I don't think that makes them bad it just makes them more mentally weak. Living a hard life gives you back bone and it's clear from her appearance that this lass has never had a hard day in her life.
"It's a miracle he survived." she whispers.
With a snort I reply, "No miracle to it. He survived cause he refused to die and had the balls to tear Death a new one."
Suddenly the girl starts laughing.
"What so funny?" I ask irritated.
"It's just that I've never heard anyone talk the way you do." she replies giving me a smile.
So that's why he hangs out with her. She's got this angelic aura around her. I guess anyone would prefer that.
"I haven't properly introduced myself yet." she says extending her hand.
"I'm Sakura." she adds.
"Jessie." I reply taking her hand.
Maybe she's not the stuck up bitch I thought she'd be.

Adam POV
I find Jacob waiting for me outside the barn.
"Hey man." I greet him.
"Well if it ain't the bullet sponge himself." Jacob greets back.
"You seem surprised." I comment.
"Aye. Jessie said someone would come to look at the cows but I didn't think it would be you." he explains.
"Oh. So where are they?" I ask.
"We put them in the old barn over their. Here your gonna need this." he replies handing me a mask.
"What for?" I ask.
"Cause it smells like a witch's cunt." he says.
"Dude, no." I say.
Looking surprised he asks, "What did I do?"
"Their are some things you just don't say. Your dad won't even say that word." I explain.
Embarrassed he turns and leaves mumble something inaudible.
Before he rounds the corner I shout, "Where were they shot?"
"Down by the old tractor!" he replies.
I turn to head to the old barn and wonder why he didn't just wait for me their. I soon realise why.
The closer I get the stronger the stench of rotting flesh becomes. When I walk inside I feel like I'm gonna be sick.
If this is bad for me it must be unbearable for Anima's
Inside I find surgical equipment.
While I cut open the dead animal I curse the fact that they didn't wanna hire a vet to remove the bullets.
Eventually however I manage to remove the first one.
From the size of the wound I already had an idea what's kind of round it was but now I knew. Hollow points.
I put down the surgical equipment and wash my hands before leaving. Outside workers are waiting to bury the dead animals.
Yes the people here bury their animals.
As I walk across the large open field to the old tractor I start feeling more and more uncomfortable.
When I reach the tractor I start looking through the grass and sure enough, I find bullet casings.
Not just for any bullets either. These were 5.56 rounds. Assault rifles. And from what I can tell no one heard the shots so they were likely using suppressors.
Turning the casing I spot something that sends chills down my spine.
Quickly I pull out my phone and call my dad.
"What's up?" he asks.
"It's Eden. They're back Dad. Eden's back." I say, my voice trembling.
I am terrified.
