/61/ The New Beginning

I cut the red ribbon in the middle, in front of me is the two wooden door which is the entrance. Agad na nagsipalak-pakan ang mga tao sa likod. Kaunti lang kami, five waiters and waitresses one host crew and two cashiers and one for my assistant inside the kitchen.

I went inside and let myself celebrate by the wooden walls, marbled floor, and an accent of white interior two chandaliers . Circle tables scattered in the medium size restaurant that is owned by me. Finally! after five years of managing my duties I can finally enjoy the growth of my hard works. But those five years-- still, it's him. Akala ko naibenta ko na kay Kolerostus ang memorya ko sakanya, but I can still remember it.

I continued doing my works: I already chopped the possible ingredients, I already marinated the beefs, butters are already softened, pans are ready to be used. Pero nag evaporate na ang tubig sa kawali ko wala pa rin pumasok na costumers.

This is not what I expected, I sat on the mono-block chair near the island at tumunganga roon. I thought opening a restaurant was easy, nagkakamali pala ako. I stared at the steel long table inside, the ovens, grillers, and gas. There's still no costumers.

Irritable akong tumayo at lumabas, Dexie was standing in the cashier corner together with her fellow companion. Si Erylise nag mo-mop, si Papa nakaupo lang din sa counter, crossing his arms, waiting paatiently. Habang si Mama nakatayo malapit sa entrance-- smiling akwrardly- also waiting for the first costumer to arrive.

Naglakad ako sa counter, I leaned closer to Dexie. "Sayang ang kuryente, wala pa ring costumer" Dexie whispered, hinarap ko siya brows furrowd.

"Meron 'yan hintayin lang natin" I insist, taking a quick glance at her before walking away. Umupo ako sa tabi ni Papa at tumingin ng diretso sa entrance. Lahat kami nakatigin sa entrance, na parang may susulpot doon.

"Proud ako sayo anak" Sinandal ni Papa ang kaniyang kamay sa baga ko.

"Thank you pa, sabi ko sa'yo diba" tinaas-taas ko ang kilay ko together with a teasing smile.

Nagtanghali na pero wala pa ring dumarating, All of them started to loose hope, nangalay na ang labi ni Mama sa kakangiti, pinaupo ko muna sina Dexie para hindi mangawit ang kanilang mga paa sa kakatayo.

"Wala pa talaga, nakakairita" Sinandal niya ang ulo niya sa counter.

"Hintayin lang natin meron 'yan" I said it again, I expect him to be here-- to be my first costumer. He promised that one, and I'm hoping that he never breaks it kahit na wala na kami. Kahit na pinilit kong kalimutan siya-- kahit masakit. Sobrang sakit.
