A/N: Look I know that I have a problem when it comes to associating music with these two, but, in my defense, my music taste is ever expanding and so many songs just fit them so well that when I discover them, I just have to add them to my playlists. So you all gotta live with it. Sorry not sorry. Anyways, as per usual, songs are italicized, and explanations are underneath in regular text, and I love to answer any questions and comments you may have.

Wasteland Baby - Hozier

This is a very poetic and tragic song about love at the end of the world, when there is so much destruction that all two people can do is hold on to the feelings they have for each other to survive. It suits Kate and Rafe well.

From Eden - Hozier

From Eden really captures Rafe's perspective as a villain in love with a hero, from the reverence he treats Kate with, to his obsession with her.

Heal Me - Snow Patrol

Here's another one that really has some darker imagery and also touches on the way that Kate brings out the best in Rafe, and the impact she made on him in the end.

Apocalypse - Cigarettes After Sex

If you haven't noticed, one of my favorite tropes in anything is 'Apocalypse'. I blame certain TV shows, but that's off topic. But anyways, this song is about destructive love, love that can cause the end of the world with a kiss. Also, it's got a lot of musical imagery, which I feel suits my favorite couple.

The Lakes - Taylor Swift

This is a really good song for when Kate and Rafe go to Gabriel's cabin at the very end of the Black Reckoning, just hiding together and stealing a bit of peace before the inevitable tragedy that comes for them.

Till Forever Falls Apart - Ashe & Finneas

What a surprise, another end of the world based song. This one is about being with your lover when everything goes wrong, which I really like, especially since Kate always believed in Rafe and he always loved her.

Haunted - Melanie Martinez

This is a good song for Kate when she's dealing with both Rafe's death, and also the haunting image of who he used to be compared to who he is as the Dire Magnus, and her conflicting feelings about him. It's a creepier one, which I dig.

Spectrum - Florence + The Machine

I feel like this song is super celestial and ethereal, and great for a romance that spans time and space and good and evil. It's kind of just a reminder that no matter what, Kate and Rafe always had love for each other.

Raging Fire - Phillip Phillips

This song has one line especially that I'd like to point out, which is "hold on to what makes you feel, don't let go, it's what makes you real". That line sums up how Rafe's love for Kate is what made him different from all the Dire Magni that came before him. I also really like the imagery about fire and time.

Open Arms - Journey

Okay, full disclosure, Journey has been one of my favorite bands since I was a little kid, because my parents play their music all the time, so I'm kinda projecting, but this song is still super sweet and I think it just strips everything away and gets to the heart of the matter; the love for each other that this couple has.

The End Of The World - Billie Eilish

Sue me, I have a serious obsession with these end of the world songs, but damn, they are good. This one is one of my favorites, because it's just a great tragic and disastrously romantic song. It really fits with the Dire Magnus's theme of spinning away for a moment with no cares while the world ends.
